For many of us summer is nearly at an end, but in Echo of Soul it is just getting started. Summer returns to Echo of Soul with all its beach-going fun. Put away your armor and grab some beach appropriate clothes before you head to the sunny island where everyone goes for summer in Echo of Soul. While you lounge on the beach you’ll be able to find summer-themed quests. Beachgoers can also explore the Manta Reef, crack coconuts, and get into water balloon fights with friends.
Players who have completed the summer quests will be rewarded with special event coins that can be exchanged for unique items. Some of the items you can get include a Soul Orb, Spirit of the Sea Flap Flap, and a recipe for Pearl Jam Stew. To get to the island find the Island-savy Dig Duv to get an invitation. Just remember to be dressed for a swim and have your weapons put away. The summer life is no place for armor and weapons. There are also several achievements to complete during the event so be sure to check those out when you log in.
The summer event in Echo of Soul will be running until August 28th, so you’ll have plenty of time to see it all and get back to adventuring. For more details on the summer event head over to the official forums where an FAQ will be posted outlining everything you can expect to see in the event. Or log in and jump right in, the water is fine!
What is up with ducks and their newfound desire to conquer the galaxy? Didn’t we feed them enough breadcrumbs or what? Whatever the reason may be, they aren’t happy and return as the main enemies in Relic Hunters Legend, the follow-up to the acclaimed indie game Relic Hunters Zero.
We were given the opportunity to play an early alpha build of Relic Hunters Legend and despite having most features and levels under development, it was enough to see where the game is going, which is Fast and Fun Shooter Land. No, that isn’t a real place, I just made that up to get the point across.
Donald Duck Goes Rogue
Relic Hunters Legend is a four-player online co-op shooter created by a Brazilian studio called Rogue Snail. It represents an improvement to the first game in every level, starting with the graphics. Gone is the somewhat simplistic pixel art, replaced by a colorful cartoon style that conveys heaps of personality and emotion – mostly fierce determination – in such small characters.
There is no campaign right now, but a story mode with four acts is planned, with the first act coming during the beta. This act will offer four to five hours of time-traveling adventures with a mysterious character name Seven. In fact, the developers mention the fact that the game should take you 500 hours to complete everything. By that they really mean everything including unlocking and leveling characters, completing every dungeon and mission, and getting the best builds available.
To fully enjoy that, the shooting and looting should be as polished as they can be, right? You can rest assured that even at the current state, Relic Hunters Legend is a lot of fun. The small selection of characters, a couple of them without their unique skills, doesn’t get in the way of the fast and frantic gameplay one could expect from such a game. It’s like Killsquad on cute, fluffy steroids, with a lot of heavy-armored turtles and ducks wearing shades.
The current build comes with four hunters: Ace, Jimmy, Pinkyy and Raff. For the sake of this alpha test, and apparently because I have discovered a weird liking for green computerized hair, I chose Pinkyy, the leader of the Relic Hunters. She is an extremely agile fighter and her shield is a godsend when it comes to protecting the team from the ceaseless bursts of enemy projectiles. She also has a dash and a jump ability that come in handy when her enemies are united in a small area.
As if it wasn’t enough for poor old Ace to be a donkey, he is currently missing some skills, but at least he can resort to his leap to hurt his enemies a bit. Raff, on the other hand, is missing… er, everything, so she isn’t the most appropriate choice when it comes to trying different tactics in the arena. Jimmy is described as the greatest shot in the galaxy and I believe it, with his grenade throwing skill surely playing a big part in his reputation. The roster is going to improve with the addition of Seven, Biu, Panzer and Red, most of them being familiar faces from Relic Hunters Zero.
Hunters level up in two ways: they gain experience levels by the regular means of progressing and shooting everything in sight, but they also have a gear level. This is inherently tied to your Hunter level, which means that you can only equip better gear if your current experience level allows you to do so. Then you have the option to enhance your gear via crafting materials that you find in your way or by recycling parts that you don’t need anymore. This alpha is limited to level 20 but the final game comes with a level cap of 100.
There is so much under development for Relic Hunters Legend that I believe it will feel very different from the current build, when it enters beta by late 2019 or early 2020. A skill tree is in the works, which means that you’ll be able to improve abilities and unlock new skills, paving the way for more combat options. There is a rebel rank as well to track your account level based on your achievement completion rate.
A customization system is being developed for you to equip cosmetic items, change the colors of individual pieces to your liking, add a special effect here and there, and choose your favorite quips and emotes. This is where monetization will come barging in, although Rogue Snail promises to be completely fair and transparent in their regard. Judging by the frank way in that they advise caution to anyone who wants to purchase Relic Hunters Legend in its current state, they seem to be very serious about it.
Ducks of War
There isn’t much in the way of content, but there are many hours of gameplay at your disposal if you like this kind of loot-driven shooter. This is a fun game with a friend, but it goes extreme when you have a full party of four players hunting ducks. There are a few intricacies that you must learn and let sink in, such as the lack of a jump button, which is something weird for a game that places such an emphasis on verticality.
You’ll be able to deal with slopes and gaps thanks to context-based leaps, something that feels natural and smooth after a few minutes. The AI relentlessly attacks and chases you, comfortably dealing with every obstacle that the tricky terrain throws its way. In fact, they can become a little bit unnerving with their constant climbing and descending, inadvertently avoiding our gunfire by sheer luck.
While you can freely aim your weapon, verticality once again gets in the way of your task. Relic Hunters Legend has a weird way of dealing with ramps and slopes, one that will require some getting used to. Your shots may end up hitting an enemy standing on top of a ramp, or simply fail to reach him. Different approaches to distance and location may result in a better outcome, but it’s not always evident how things are going to turn out. Switching between no assist and auto-aim modes doesn’t seem to significantly alter how the shooting works.
Relic Hunters Legend only has one location to explore for now, but you can rest assured that others are coming. The Galyno Desert is the first region, but at least six regions of similar size are planned. This area is divided into three eras, which equate to normal, hard and epic difficulty levels. Only normal and hard modes are available and not for every mission, with many “under construction” signs showing that this is very much a game in early alpha state. Even the Secret Market, which will act as the game’s social hub isn’t accessible, so there are a lot of expected dead ends in Relic Hunters Legend’s current build.
The same goes for game modes, with only a couple available. Skirmish is your standard mode where you drop from your ship and start shooting Ducans left and right, only to end up facing a boss in a small arena. Scavenge is the other game mode where it’s all about capturing random points in the map for a short time, resisting the relentless waves of enemies that try to push you out of the circle. Other game modes are planned, including Payload (escorting a slow-moving train), Defense (protecting a gate) or Distraction (survive for eight minutes while causing the most trouble), among others. There are four-player dungeons with unique mechanics, but it was under construction as well.
However, that is enough talking about technical details; onward to fun! Relic Hunters Legend is a lighthearted, gripping, no strings attached experience where your only goal is to shoot and loot. Beneath its deceivingly simple core gameplay mechanics beats a strong and charismatic heart, one that initially compels you with its looks and soon grabs you by sheer addictiveness. It’s a game where you are unwillingly forced to inspect every little detail, from the grimaces that the heroes make with every skill or move to the way that the empty bullet shells fall to the ground when you reload your weapon. You can’t help but smile at these almost invisible touches.
Relic Hunters Legend still needs a lot of work and in its current state it isn’t anywhere near a proper beta build; I wasn’t even able to create a match with a friend. Luckily, I stumbled across a few random players here and there, allowing me to appreciate the game for what it intends to be. It’s free-to-play, so it’s not like you’ll have to ask for a refund if you weren’t entertained when it launches.
Good games don’t need hundreds of hours of content for you to realize that they are worthy of your time. This is one such example and you can bet that it will be a huge success among the fans of the first game, as well as sheer enthusiasts of top-down co-op shooters. Unless a duck or two find a way to time travel and sabotage the grand scheme of things, Relic Hunters Legend is on the right track.
It looks like yet another future World of Warcraft expansion has possibly been leaked. We say possibly of course because right now nothing is confirmed. And we say again because this is the second rumored WoW expansion leak to happen in less than a week! Before we go any further please be aware that by reading beyond this point you might be exposed to future spoilers for World of Warcraft, continue at your own risk.
The first expansion, which was leaked last week was Age of Darkness. This expansion will allegedly see the old god N’zoth unleash a darkness that covers Azeroth. The expansion is rumored to have the Tinker class, a level squish with a new cap at 60, a new max-level progression system called Conquest, and a few improvements and reworks on systems already in the game. The supposed release window for this expansion is the end of 2020. There is however a lot of debate over whether this rumored leak can be believed. For one, the original leak as posted on 4chan has been deleted. Others have called it a laughably bad attempt at trolling the community. Right now there doesn’t seem to be much or any evidence to support the claims this rumor alleges. So for now, take this with a heaping pile of salt.
The second expansion, supposedly leaked is Shadowlands and, unlike the first, it is actually a little bit more believable. Once again, the leak came from 4chan, for anyone familiar with leaks and rumors this won’t be surprising at all. It is rumored to have two continents, Dragon Isles and Shadowlands. In fact, this is what makes the whole rumor so believable, there’s also a zone map that looks quite official. After a Youtuber made a video about the rumored Shadowlands leak he was supposedly contacted by people who had worked at Blizzard who supposedly confirmed the leak was real, including the image which supposedly came from an internal dev show and tell session. What do people think of this one? Well, it seems somewhat mixed. Plenty of people who think it’s the real deal, others who say they’ll wait and see. There are even some people who believe it is real and that Blizzard “leaked” it themselves to test the water. Whatever the case may be, we’re going to have to wait until Blizzcon to find out if there was any truth to be had.
Quakecon was held over the weekend and during it, the release of the Elder Scrolls Online Scalebreaker DLC was announced as August 12th for PC and Mac and August 27th for consoles. It includes two new dungeons and sees the return of the beloved Sai Sahan.
We also got to find out some details about improvements that are coming to the game from now until Q2 next year. The Q4 update is called Dragonhold and will include Southern Elsweyr. The Q4 2019 update includes a complete re-write of the LFG system, a memory management overhaul, and the first of the behind the scenes combat ability improvements. Q1 2020’s update is currently in development. It will include more of the behind the scenes combat ability improvements as well as a patching overhaul. Other updates then include faster loading art and characters, frame rate improvements, and server optimization. Finally, in Q2 2020, there will be more frame rate improvements, an account database “Cold Storage,” and additional bug fixes.
From the sounds of it the developers are hard at work implementing upgrades and making changes to the game based on the feedback of players. These little backend changes will have a huge impact on the quality of life of the game. It’s great to see that even after all this time since the game launched there are still improvements that can be made to make the game just that little bit better. While Scalebreaker may be just around the corner it’s not hard to admit that Dragonhold is what we’re really looking forward to. It is the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of updates after all.
As some of you got to experience this past weekend, Microsoft, alongside the developers at The Coalition, hosted a special Tech Test for the multiplayer portion of Gears 5, also known in some circles as the latest chapter in the Gears of War series. While this doesn’t really provide a taste of what’s to come in the new Escape mode or the single player campaign, it does deliver info on what many players have been waiting for – the game’s heavy multiplayer component.
There are portions that fans will be able to jump back into this weekend like the Boot Camp mode. This will essentially walk you through gameplay basics. There will also be a mini-Tour of Duty with numerous challenges that give exclusive rewards which will carry over into the final game when it rolls around in September. The fan favorite King of the Hill returns, along with the competitive game type Escalation.
All of these will be available starting on July 26th at 10 AM PDT, and run through July 29th around the same time. That gives you three days to run wild and see what to expect from the improved sequel and you’ll be able to get a taste of the new TrueMatch technology that The Coalition is introducing with the game. It utilizes AI Cloud Computing to adjust certain parameters with matchmaking, based on Skill Rating, location, and other player assets. Though it’s still in the testing phase, it sounds pretty cool nevertheless.
Now, lets walk through some of the experiences we had with each of the modes to get you ready for what’s to come.
First up is Boot Camp mode, which introduces you to some of the basics. Even if you’re ultra savvy in what Gears has to offer, you’ll still have to walk through this. While that can be a little annoying, it never hurts to get a refresher. Besides, when’s the last time you really played Gears of War 4 anyway?
The game plops you down into an interactive battlefield where a new recruit, Bairdthrough, walks you thorough the basics. First up is movement, which is simple enough to get through. Then you’ll learn how cover works by dodging the lasers of your robo-assistant. Then practice begins, as you take down drones with aiming and shooting techniques. The video below gives you a good idea of how it all comes together.
You’ll also get an idea of the right areas to throw grenades for explosive impact. This includes targeting enemies weak spots such as legs, or to Baird’s personal liking, the head. Obviously.
More weapons are introduced as you progress, including the Lancer and the Gnasher shotgun. You can experiment with these over the course of multiplayer however you see fit, but the real fun comes with the up-close executions. Here, you can tap the B button to knock an enemy down, and then hold the B button to perform a real personal execution. This can result in a number of finishers, like sawing someone in half with a Lancer (old-school!) or smacking their head off with a rifle. It all depends on who you’re taking out, and how viciously you need to finish them off. Again, the video above provides a good demonstration of this.
You can also execute enemies by yanking them over cover and countering when they come closer to you. This is useful, as you can catch them off guard when they’re trying to flank your position. It’s pretty neat catching someone when they least expect it, and you can kill them quickly. Yep, take that, punk.
The exercise comes to a close with a quick team skirmish. It’s here you learn the general basics of how it all comes together, working alongside a squad of AI droids that essentially let you do all the dirty work. It’s not nearly as entertaining as working alongside friends, but it lets you apply everything you’ve learned in the best way possible, so who are we to complain? Following this, your time in Boot Camp is done, and you can start multiplayer. (But you can try it again, in case you need a refresher.)
Now we get to Escalation. The Coalition set out to make it deeper than ever before, so you’ll want to keep these things in mind when it comes to jumping in this weekend.
First, make sure you rely more on your team this time around. We learned during our sessions this past weekend that running around as a rogue cannon, even with years of Gears experience, is merely asking for trouble. That’s because enemies working together as a team can quickly get the jump on you, so make sure you keep close tabs with your squad. That way, you can work together on picking your targets. What’s more, if someone’s injured, you’re able to heal them quickly and avoid becoming an army of one against an overwhelming force.
Like before, you attempt to control two of three points on a map to earn 250 points overall for the round, or a quick Domination victory if you get all three. That’s easier said than done in some cases, if only because the enemy team will try to overrun your rings in an effort to maintain control for themselves. Keep in mind that with the start of each new round, respawn times get shorter, and new weapons become available. Keep tabs on these, because they’re going to be really helpful against adversaries.
One thing we learned the hard ways is that there’s a new lives system. Respawns are very limited within this mode, so you’ll want to play it carefully. This is why teams are so much more important in Gears 5, because getting killed quickly takes diminishes your respawns. If you run out, you’re stuck watching from the sidelines. Watch the ticker in the upper left corner to see how many lives you have left, and make sure you pace them out accordingly. Don’t rush unless you absolutely have to, and don’t play foolishly!
Some players will go after those with low respawn counts, so make sure they’re protected if they’re on the field. You’ll miss their needed numbers later. Completely eliminating the other team from the battlefield will score you an instant win.
Weapon selection is vital with a game like this. You can upgrade a weapon, place a weapon randomly on the battlefield, or even disable another team’s weapon for all three rounds. There are upgrades with each decision that you make, so don’t necessarily rush into each option with your team. Balance things out and see what works best for your squad. Those grenades may come in handy during later rounds. Who knows, taking away a rival’s weapon may just do the trick for a round.
Finally, make sure to watch your spawn positioning. They’re a little more forward this time around than in the previous Escalation mode, with players more spread out. You can arm the front players a little better, although that could cost you picks depending what you give them. Respawn times can also dwindle with each countdown leading up to halftime.
There’s a lot of strategy to play around with here, so be patient, but have some fun with it.
King of the Hill
Last but not least, fan favorite King of the Hill makes its return for the Gears 5 beta test. For those unfamiliar, this mode has been around since the good ol’ days in the PC version of the original Gears of War, so it should bear a lot of familiarity with fans.
It’s got a little bit in common with Escalation, but instead of taking control of different rings in a stage, the focus is on a primary ring for a short period of time. The goal is for a team to capture as many of these points as they can over the duration of the round. Capture enough of these areas, and the team wins the match, but don’t expect to keep control of these rings easily. As the development team noted, the idea of this mode is to control these areas, and yet “enjoy the carnage” that comes with it.
Most of the team-based rules that applied with Escalation will likely come into play with King of the Hill as well. This includes playing as a team, dividing up points with weapons, and making sure to watch yourself on respawns. That said, you’ll also want to make sure your points are well guarded while not leaving yourself too vulnerable to enemy fire, which can come from literally any direction, depending on your location on the map. There are a number of favorites here, so be prepared for enemies to come at you from pretty much everywhere. (Isn’t that the glory of Gears, though?)
Fortunately, the rings are big enough that you can take a pretty good defensive stance as a team. That means you can have one or two teammates working on taking down enemies from behind cover, while having a couple running around picking off those that may be coming from other directions. But take heart as that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get off easily and get everyone that comes your way. They’ll have strategies that assure that you’ll want to stay on your toes Just because something works for a little while doesn’t mean it’s always going to work.
The best thing you can do is develop a strong team dynamic and make sure you work closely with them. Don’t mess around too much and don’t waste too much of your ammo. It could run out on you, forcing you to rely on your sidearm. Even that could run out, leaving you high and dry against someone that’s far more well armed. Rely on your teammates, watch out for weapon refills, and time your shots. It never hurts to keep moving either, unless you’re defending your ring spots in certain areas. In that case, keep your cover, and watch out for those that may be coming around the bend for you.
How Can I Take Part In the Test?
This is pretty much the last Gears 5 beta test that will take place before the game’s full release this September, so how can you take part? Well, there are a number of ways.
Perhaps the easiest, and most affordable, is the Xbox Game Pass which comes with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (Xbox Live) program anyway. You can pre-download the beta automatically, which should make it good to go once the weekend rolls around.
Don’t have Game Pass or the Xbox Live program? Not to worry. Simply pre-order the game, either standard or Ultimate Edition, and you should be able to obtain access to the beta. You’ll get a code through the retailer that you ordered the game through, and should be able to download it that way. Check in with them, as well as the official Xbox Wire page with information on the beta, for more details.
This is definitely a party you shouldn’t miss. What’s more, you can unlock not only progress over the course of the three day event, but also rewards that can be used in the full game. That’s not a bad thing at all. Oh, and we did mention that the beta is free to take part in, right?
Gears 5 will release on September 10 for Xbox One and Windows PC. Those of you with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Gears 5 Ultimate pre-order can start playing on September 6!
Twin Saga Patch 17 has been announced and it is bringing two new dungeons to the anime MMORPG along with additional Senshi quests and several special events. The two new dungeons are the blazing Barren Desert and the dark Crocodile Wetlands, both with their own unique dangers. These two dungeons will reward players with Loyalty Points and Star Points, both of which can be exchanged for special items.
Also in this patch, the magnificent Death Valley Colosseum Battlefield is being released, giving players an all-new place to prove their might. Four additional Shenshi have been spotted, giving all new quests.
Finally, there are going to be an amazing five new seasonal events added to Twin Saga. But, the press release doesn’t give us the details for all of them. We do know that there will be a treasure hunt during the special Flora’s Treasure event. They also mention celebrating Thanksgiving and taking loved ones on a romantic stroll. So, from the sounds of it these seasonal events are going to be somewhat spread out.
We can’t wait to dive into Patch 17 and see what all it has to offer. If nothing else, we here at MMOGames are complete suckers for seasonal events and it sounds like Twin Saga just got a whole bunch more. Though what all of them are we will just have to wait and find out.
Worlds Adrift is hosting an end of the world event for the last few hours the game remains online tomorrow. Beginning at 7 Pacific Time one final event will be running in the game which can be watched on Twitch if you can’t make it there in person.
The shutdown of this unique spatialOS MMORPG was announced back at the very end of May. In the FAQ about the shutdown they said this about the shutdown; “Making such an ambitious game was always going to be a challenge and we love the game we’ve built together with our community. However, Worlds Adrift has not captured the imagination of as many people as we needed to make it commercially viable.”
Unfortunately, the game was plagued with terrible griefing problems and the addition of PvE servers came a little too late. According to Steam Charts however, the game never really got an audience. Its all time peak number of players was just 2,031 and that happened back in May 2018. There was a little bit of a boost in October when the PvE servers were introduced, but that boost didn’t last.
On the bright side, this isn’t the end of Bossa. In their FAQ they make it clear that the studio will continue and that they always have 3 games in development. One game that we do know is in the works is Pigeon Simulator which will be on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and yes, it is exactly what you think it is.
Battle for Azeroth has taken quite a few interesting turns and detours from its previous expansions. The general opinion is that, despite slight improvements to gearing over Legion’s static artifact system, the war for the world has taken a large step backward. Even with the heavy advancements with the Essence system and character progression Rise of Azshara introduced its clear that reception is less than positive for the expansion overall. Now that we are officially over halfway into the newest adventure in the wide World of Warcraft, we can begin to take some guesses as to where things might just take us next. What does the end of the Blood War have in store for us?
With the launch of Azshara’s Eternal Palace, we’ve seen the realization of N’zoth’s ten thousand year plan. The Old God of the deeps, with the assistance of Azshara, Xal’atath and the Champion of Azeroth, has managed to break his titanic prison. Those taking the fight to Azshara’s personal chambers will get to witness the event in full below. Despite her intent to use the Heart of Azeroth to become a goddess of her own, N’zoth instead unleashes his full might from the depths and buys his own freedom when she fails.
And then it simply ends. Frustratingly.
With Blizzard’s method of storytelling in Battle for Azeroth, it’s highly unlikely we’ll get much answer as to what the fallout of such an event is in the near future. Like previous installments of the War Campaigns, including the latest, its incredibly likely we’ll only see further story advancement during the next mini-patch in 8.2.5. With Xal’atath’s freedom in the Crucible of Storms its unclear where the Old God storyline is going from here, though its been made clear that Azshara is not gone forever. Rather instead, Blizzard employees have teased that the patch was named as such for careful reasons.
The only firm direction or knowledge of the plot we know is in direct correlation to the recent War Campaign. With Baine Bloodhoof’s rebellion in freeing Derek Proudmoore, he has since been imprisoned in the Heart of Orgrimmar. In the sanctum of Garrosh’s True Horde, Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner imprisoned the Chieftain with a bloodthirsty guard. Assisted by Thrall, Saurfang, Jaina Proudmoore and Mathias Shaw, players fight off rabid Sunreaver Mages in their hunt for justice against Proudmoore. Managing to free Baine, they teleport away to Thunder Bluff where Thrall and Jaina divine the next steps Sylvanas will take.
It is incredibly likely that Sylvanas will besiege Thunder Bluff and its people in order to seek her justice. This is the popular choice among storycrafters for the direction in which Patch 8.3 is going to go, as while the groundwork is present for N’zoth’s rise it is underdeveloped in several aspects. With the Great Gate of Mulgore featuring as a Warfront during Battle for Azeroth’s testing and development cycle, the groundwork IS already there for a large, zone-based raid or even a revamped Mulgore quest hub. With the War Campaign having been a major focus of the expansion’s earlier progression, it makes sense to resolve it in the last major patch.
That begs the question, “Where do we go from there?” With the large factional divide present throughout Battle for Azeroth, its incredibly unlikely we’ll see much of a peace accord fall together at Thunder Bluff. Even if the Alliance and Tauren pin Sylvanas against a cliff-face its been made clear that the Warchief will not surrender as Garrosh did. Clearly in an effort to tie off this expansion we’ll need some large ‘bad guy’ villain to unite the two factions in an alliance of survival. The Heart of Azeroth will undoubtedly be retired in lieu of the next expansion’s main gameplay system, as well as the concept of Azerite being widely available for our gear.
Logically, the conclusions all point towards one major brewing entity: N’zoth. While it is incredibly likely we could see something come right out of thin air as happened with Warlords of Draenor and Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard seems against such a notion. Previous expansions since Warlords tend to set up the narrative for the next expansion. Gul’dan’s escape at the Black Gate led to Legion, whereas Sargeras’ defeat lead to Battle for Azeroth. While we have had light teases into new concepts such as Helya’s return, the Dragon Isles and the Infinite Flight, it’s far more likely to lead into a Void related expansion.
As such, for 8.2.5 we could certainly expect that patch to deal with the fallout of both Azshara’s Eternal Palace and Baine’s Liberation. Patch 8.3 will most likely feature one of two things. The first is a siege upon Thunder Bluff if not a Great Gate Warfront, much to the chagrin of players who experienced the Siege of Orgrimmar several expansions ago. The second, and in my opinion less likely, possibility is the rise of N’zoth and his attack on the Heart Chamber in Silithus, it being Azeroth’s most vulnerable point. However, it makes much more narrative sense to tide the ‘big baddie’ to the next expansion and wrap up the war plot with a strong lead-in.
Falling in line with this theory, a poster on 4chan (which was later reposted to the WoW subreddit) posted a ‘leak.’ Most 4chan leaks, unlike other sites such as ResetEra, have historically been largely false. This particular post, made on the /b/-Random forum, is most likely just as fake as others. It does offer up an incredible wealth of possibilities for the narrative to travel in a hypothetical Patch 9.0.
This ‘leaked’ expansion, entitled Age of Darkness, sees N’zoth interrupting the Siege of Thunder Bluff during their final battle. Seeking to take Kalimdor as the first sect of his Black Empire, N’zoth rallies the Infinite Dragonflight and attempts to finally turn Nozdormu, the Aspect of Time, into their leader. Using their aid, he attempts to alter time to where the avatar of his brother, C’thun, was never defeated. Utilizing a revitalized Twilight’s Hammer cult, he then seeks to awaken C’thraxxi and Old God forces across the Eastern Kingdoms and Northrend.
Even if this isn’t the plan for the future, other thematic teases for upcoming expansions seem incredibly bleak. From Vol’jin’s quest throughout the Realm of Shadows and the Horde’s new-found crusade on behalf of Death itself, to the fanatical vengeance of the Night Elves on behalf of their new Night Warrior, conflict on Azeroth between the two factions will not end here. The war, however, does need to come to an end sooner than later; Ion Hazzikostas, Warcraft’s game director himself, has expressed interest in completing the relatively panned expansion promptly. With a brutal war on the horizon, and dark possibilities at every turn, there’s only one assured direction for Azeroth’s future.
A new giant threat will eventually arise. Let’s just hope this one is worth focusing an entire expansion around.
For the next two weeks, Fiesta Online celebrates its 11th birthday with a cupcake war. First, can we just stop to acknowledge the fact that this MMORPG is still going strong after 11 years? Not many games can say that, so a huge congrats to the Fiesta Online team.
During the two-week cupcake war, players will be fighting their opponents with delicious baked goods. Then at the end players have to offer their rewards to the “Sugar King.” There’s also a special anniversary quest chain in which players have to complete birthday-themed tasks.
While the event is running the main town areas of the game will be covered in decorations. These decorations match well with the celebration-themed outfits and accessories players can get from completing the special quest.
This event is only running for two weeks so be sure to get in on it while you can.

Citadel Studios has announced that the Legends of Aria Steam launch date will be August 6th. We’ve been following the game since it was first announced in 2014, though back then it was called Shards Online. The game has changed quite a bit since those early days and even now there have been more changes made to the game based on feedback from various beta and alpha events.
“Not only have we added a new playable skillset in the Bard and a whole new armor and weapon enchanting system to make the crafters in our community even more important, but we’re making the world of Aria a much friendlier place to live,” said Derek Brinkmann, CEO. “We’re ecstatic to finally be launching Legends of Aria on Steam after so much hard work and love were poured into the game. We cannot wait for MMO players of all sorts to join us on our journey.”

According to the little FAQ section on Steam Citadel Studios estimates that the game will remain in Early Access for 6 to 12 months. This will be when the game is relatively bug free and 100% feature complete. Also talking about the price of Legends of Aria, they had this to say, “MMORPGs and even more so fully persistent sandbox MMORPGs rely heavily on active population. Our plan is to gradually reduce the price of the game over time to reduce the barrier to entry as in-game digital item sales grow to support the ongoing development of the product.”
