DCUO is Coming to Nintendo Switch

At San Diego Comic-Con it was announced that DCUO is coming to Nintendo Switch. It will launch on August 6th, which is only a little over 2 weeks away at this point. A small FAQ has been posted with a few details.

Current DCUO players will not be able to play their current accounts on the Switch. They will have to have all new accounts with all new characters made with their Nintendo account. These Nintendo accounts won’t be connected to the other accounts in any way. This is because at launch there will be a completely new server. This new server will be completely separate from the other servers in the DCUO community. Though the FAQ does add that they are looking forward to exploring crossplay options in the future.

The game will be free to play on the Switch like it is on other platforms you can find it on.

To celebrate the announcement DCUO has released an all-new trailer specifically for the Nintendo Switch.

During Comic-Con DCUO also announced two new episodes, METAL PART 1 and METAL PART 2. They will be launching in September and December respectively. Here’s what the developers have to say about each one.

In METAL PART II, the saga of the Dark Knights, the Dark Multiverse, and Metal will come to an explosive conclusion. The Bat-God Barbatos has waited since the dawn of the universe for this moment, and it seems nothing can stand in his way.

LEAH’S TAKE: “When we were just starting on the idea to bring Metal to the game, we knew the size and complexity of the cast and story would be challenging. We started testing the waters with looks from the comics – The Red Death and The Drowned – releasing those styles. The reaction was so overwhelming we knew we had to figure out how to bring the story into an episode. The way we figured it out? Not one Episode, but two! Doing the story right meant taking the time, and the team really stepped up and made it their own. We knew we were onto something good!” – Leah Bowers, DC Universe Online Executive Producer

Metal Part II will be a large-scale episode, with level-agnostic event versions of content available to all players for a limited time.

The episode will feature new and returning heroes and villains, including the Bat-God Barbatos.

The storyline will include singleplayer and multiplayer adventures set in locales too terrifying to be revealed now (spoilers).

The episode will launch new player rewards, including new gear, styles, artifacts, base items, and feats.
