Next Elder Scrolls Online Chapter Revealed: Greymoor

Today Elder Scrolls Online revealed Greymoor, the next Chapter in the ESO story. It is the Q2 Chapter DLC and will be releasing on May 18th for PC/Mac and June 2 for Xbox One and PS4. It is available for pre-purchase right now and there are 5 editions to pick from that include digital and physical collector’s editions. For those wondering, yes, there is a statue! If you pre-order you’ll also get a bunch of sweet rewards, some of which you will gain access to right away.

Greymoor is actually the second part of a new year-long adventure that begins with the Harrowstorm DLC dungeon pack and including the Q3 and Q4 DLCs. Harrowstorm is set to release in February and kick off the Dark Heart of Skyrim yearlong event.

In the Dark Heart of Skyrim, an ancient evil emerges from the depths to devour the souls of Skyrim. Greymoor will introduce a new zone, Western Skyrim and include a gothic main story quest that ties into the Dark Heart of Skyrim. There is also a new 12-player trial, new world events called Harrowstorms, and a new Antiquities system. Also, there will be a number of quality of life improvements made to the game that includes a rework of the Vampire Skill Line. The rework will be available for free to all ESO players.

The Antiquities System is exactly what you think it is. There are ancient artifacts scattered all over Tamriel, become an Archaeologist and find them. The relics you uncover will include unique collectibles like furnishings and mementos.

Players who are familiar with Skyrim will recognize a number of locations in Western Skyrim including Solitude, Morthal, Labyrinthian, Dragon Bridge, and Blackreach cavern. The cavern won’t be exactly as you remember it from Skyrim however as they have expanded it even further.

If you want to learn more about Greymoor you can find everything you’ve ever wanted to know on the official blog post.

Elder Scrolls Online Scalebreaker DLC Launching in August

Quakecon was held over the weekend and during it, the release of the Elder Scrolls Online Scalebreaker DLC was announced as August 12th for PC and Mac and August 27th for consoles. It includes two new dungeons and sees the return of the beloved Sai Sahan.

We also got to find out some details about improvements that are coming to the game from now until Q2 next year. The Q4 update is called Dragonhold and will include Southern Elsweyr. The Q4 2019 update includes a complete re-write of the LFG system, a memory management overhaul, and the first of the behind the scenes combat ability improvements. Q1 2020’s update is currently in development. It will include more of the behind the scenes combat ability improvements as well as a patching overhaul. Other updates then include faster loading art and characters, frame rate improvements, and server optimization. Finally, in Q2 2020, there will be more frame rate improvements, an account database “Cold Storage,” and additional bug fixes.

From the sounds of it the developers are hard at work implementing upgrades and making changes to the game based on the feedback of players. These little backend changes will have a huge impact on the quality of life of the game. It’s great to see that even after all this time since the game launched there are still improvements that can be made to make the game just that little bit better. While Scalebreaker may be just around the corner it’s not hard to admit that Dragonhold is what we’re really looking forward to. It is the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of updates after all.

Destiny 2: Forsaken to Include Osiris and Warmind

Bungie has decided to perhaps make the purchase of its latest DLC a little more enticing. Starting next week, a Destiny 2: Forsaken DLC purchase will also get you Curse of Osiris and Warmind at no additional cost and without having to buy a special bundle.

destiny 2: forsaken dlc

According to the weekly post from Bungie, the decision to tie all DLC together with Forsaken was meant to make it less complicated for new arrivals to start their Destiny 2 lives. “Our hope is that this will eliminate some of the questions that confront a player as they try to join our party,” explains the announcement

This change to the Forsaken DLC will be effective starting on Tuesday, October 16th. For those who bought Forsaken before that point, you’ll be rewarded with a bundle that packs in a unique emblem, shader, two Exotic emotes and a bunch of consumables. The shader and emblem will be unique to this bundle, while the emotes will come to Eververse at a later date. This thank-you bundle will arrive at some time in December.

“When the new Guardians arrive, please join us in extending to them the welcome that has made this community so notorious as an awesome group of people,” closes the announcement.

Our Thoughts

Considering how inextricably connected new DLC is to playing Destiny 2 with others, this certainly is a smart move. We’re just curious whether the goodies bundle is enough recompense for those who bought Forsaken before the 16th. Personally speaking, it’ll be nice to see more new arrivals come to the game, because MMOs and multiplayer games are always better with more people.

ESO Wades through the Murkmire and Update 20

Hope you don’t mind getting your feet dirty, because The Elder Scrolls Online is headed for the swamp in its next update. An ESO Murkmire developer preview has offered a closer look at the MMORPG’s next DLC as well as features coming in the game’s 20th update.

eso murkmire developer preview

Murkmire will open up a new zone in the southern reaches of the Black Marsh, where players can expect to find crumbling Imperial ruins, dense jungles, and the Argonians and their relationship with the Hist trees. Of course, there’s more to do than just sightseeing – a lost artifact fuels the narrative of Murkmire, and it will be up to players to join with the local Argonians to find it.

The new DLC will also open up a four-player leaderboard arena which seeks to test your team’s mettle through five stages. Making your way through the Arena will reward players with unique items, like a greatsword that improves the Uppercut ability or new item sets.

For those not interested in buying DLC, there’s a few intriguing new things coming with Update 20. The Alliance War map will now feature destructible bridges and Milegates, along with new alternate nearby routes and new Outposts. There will also be some quality-of-life improvements and combat adjustments as per the usual.

Our Thoughts

It’s actually kind of funny. The more I think about what lore I know from the Elder Scrolls universe, the more I realize I know almost next to nothing about the Argonians. So ideally this new DLC will bring a number of interesting revelations. Also, we certainly hope it brings enjoyable things for players to do, naturally.

Shadows over Bögenhafen DLC for Vermintide 2 Releases

The thing about cursed objects is that stuffing them into a closet doesn’t suddenly make them not cursed. This is a lesson the citizens of Bögenhafen are learning all too well, and as usual it’s up to the player heroes to clean up the mess. That’s the setup for today’s Shadows over Bögenhafen DLC release for Vermintide 2. More or less.

Shadows over Bögenhafen dlc

Shadows over Bögenhafen introduces players of the co-op critter slasher to the titular town, which has fallen under the curse of the Blightreaper, a pestilent blade that has brought a Nurgle infestation. The task: cleave through the threats, find the Blightreaper, and perhaps see it unmade.

The new DLC adds two new levels for players to cut through in the form of The Pit and The Cleansing, along with a number of new challenges and quests to overcome. Rewards added in this DLC include new skins, portrait frames, Illusions and hats. Those who own the DLC can even invite players who don’t have the expansion pack into their runs.

Unsurprisingly, developer Fatshark’s CEO Martin Wahlund is pretty excited. “Shadows over Bögenhafen adds even more compelling content that should challenge and satisfy even the most hardened players,” says Wahlund in a statement. “After the huge success with the release of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 we remain focused on supporting the game with new content and experiences.”

The DLC is arriving today on Steam for those who are interested. There’s also a release trailer that sets the scene you can view below.

Our Thoughts

We’re not sure two levels is a lot for a DLC’s release, but then again those could be some pretty compelling two levels regardless. In any case, for fans of this particular online co-op game, we hope they have a good time in Bögenhafen one can in a plague-ridden city.

Dota 2 Announces a Gabe Newell Voice Pack

Nothing brings the excitement of a rousing round of Dota 2 quite like the vanilla monotone of Gabe Newell. Whether you find that statement hilarious or painfully true, those who get the Battle Pass are now going to be getting themselves a Gabe Newell voice pack.

gabe newell voice pack

The reveal of the new announcer pack was made during yesterday’s leg of this year’s International event in a rather amusing announcement trailer. In the video, Valve’s big boss is in the recording studio with members of the sound staff who quickly find that a simple 15-line recording session becomes a hair-pulling marathon of frustration.

The Battle Pass, as Dota 2 fans likely already know, is the primary fuel that funds The International’s immense prize pool with 25% of Battle Pass sales going into the event’s pot. At the time of this writing, the total pool sits at over $25 million, with first place getting nearly $11 million and 18th place getting just over $62,000.

You can take in the sugary, dulcet tones of Gabe Newell’s recording session in the aforementioned trailer below.

Our Thoughts

From the blank look on Newell’s face to his confusion at the concept of the number three, we have to admit that there’s a certain level of charm in both the announcement trailer and the voice lines themselves. Of course, whether the jokes inherent in this new announcer pack have staying power is entirely up to fans of the game, but it’s hard to ignore the meme factor in this piece of DLC.

Vermintide 2 Announces the Shadows over Bogenhafen DLC

If you’re a regular player of the multiplayer rat-poking simulator Vermintide 2, you’ve probably near max in terms of advancement and ready for whatever’s next. We now know just what that next is with the reveal of the Shadows over Bogenhafen DLC, which has a release date and…that’s about it, honestly.

shadows over bogenhafen dlc

There aren’t an awful lot of details about this new DLC yet in terms of content, but the announcement quotes Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund as saying that players “will be tested like never before by Grandfather Nurgle’s unpleasant attentions.”

The announcement also promises that this coming fall season will see more content arriving to Vermintide 2 overall, though once again is mum on the details of what that content will look like and when it will specifically release.

What we can say for sure is that Shadows over Bogenhafen will release on Tuesday, August 28th for PC and Xbox One. The vagueness otherwise continues with the teaser trailer below.

Our Thoughts

We really wish we had more to report here, but then again having a release date for the next DLC isn’t exactly bad to hear about regardless. Here’s hoping that we’ll get some more firm details on what the fall updates and new DLC will bring to this slice (get it?) of multiplayer co-op gaming.
