Dreadnought Goes Live on Steam

By my own admission, Dreadnought had kind of escaped my notice. Meaning there’s a “flying under the radar” joke in there. More to the point, though, is the press release confirming that a Dreadnought Steam launch has happened, bringing the internet spaceship battle arena to a wider audience.

The arrival of the game to Steam comes alongside the Command the Colossal update, which offered a number of revamps to the game’s UI and visual look as well as added support for several new languages. The update also brought a combat balance, which was detailed in a dev blog on October 10th.

According to Six Foot COO Christian Svensson, these updates also represent technical improvements that will “ensure new game content and updates for players everywhere at a higher pace than ever before.”

Incidentally, existing players of the game on PC can link their accounts to the Steam version, bringing their achievements along with them.

As one would expect, the Steam release has come along with a gameplay trailer showcasing some of the monstrous floating weapons platforms players can command. That video can be seen below.

Our Thoughts

Considering the game currently sits at Mixed reviews on Steam, Dreadnought probably has a bit of work to do in order to really impress. That said, there’s also not many games like it out there and it does indeed have its dedicated fans, so time will tell if this “higher pace” of updates will be met. We wish the devs at Six Foot the best of luck.

Dreadnought PS4 Update Adds Three PC Patches Worth of Improvements

In an effort to bring Dreadnought’s PS4 version closer to parity with the PC version, the devs have tied together a full three previous PC patches into a single Dreadnought PS4 update that’s being described as one of the biggest to land on the game.

To start, every customizable ship in Dreadnought now has two loadout slots that can be put together, letting players swap to different modules and appearances in and out of matches. Tech trees have also gotten some smoothing, with fewer branches to help players get to the higher tier ships they want faster.

The new update has also brought clearer on-screen displays of in-game stats and cleaner reticles; revamped versions of the pre- and post-match screens; and two new pre-built legendary ships in the form of the Naga corvette and the Phoenix corvette in the Sinley Bay market.

Full patch notes for the update are found here and a video summarizing and showing off these new features can be seen below.

Our Thoughts

While these updates aren’t exactly barnburners in terms of content, they certainly bring a whole lot of quality-of-life adjustments to the Dreadnought PS4 version. Which, we assume, is a welcome addition to players of the game. Here’s hoping that PS4 internet ship captains have fun in the battlefields.

Best Space MMO of All Time

Space, the final frontier….these are the voyages…

Okay, we’ll admit it, we’re Star Trek nerds and proud of it too. In fact, we really love all things space. Why not? It’s the great unknown. Anything is possible. When it comes to MMOs it’s also the second most popular genre after fantasy. So this got us wondering, which MMO is the best space MMO of all time? Is it one that we can still play or is it one that has been sunsetted?

We spent days going through our massive game list (which is quickly approaching the point of having 2,000 games on it) so we could put as many space MMOs on this list as possible. Though yes, it is still possible that we missed some. If we did let us know so we can get it on the list!

Earth & Beyond

Specifically, we’re looking at MMOs that take you into space, so you won’t see Wildstar on this list because you aren’t in space, you’re on a planet. This list is for those games that have spaceships. Before you ask, yes, we included Star Citizen because this poll will be running for the rest of the year and we’re hopelessly optimistic.

If you want to know more about any of the games on this list click on the name or the image for that game to go to the game profile page. Here you can find screenshots, videos, and links to articles we’ve done on the game. Of course, we’ve not covered them all yet, with 2,000 games to cover and more being added every day, it’s a monumental task.

The Rules

Voting for this poll will continue until December 31st at which time the three games with the highest number of votes will be declared the winners.

You may place votes once a day until the polling period ends.

Vote for as many different games as you like.

Feel free to share this with your friends.

Have fun!
