It has been a year now since Vermintide 2 graced us with its Skaven and Chaos smashing presence. To mark the anniversary, there’s a free weekend this weekend for any of you who haven’t yet joined in with the Ubersreik Five. If that wasn’t enough of an enticement for you to give it a shot, there’s a sale on the game to coincide with the free weekend offering 60% off.
It’s not a birthday after all without some sort of celebration and in keeping with the presence of a Dwarf and the sadly lost Red Moon Inn, we’ll be celebrating with “A Quiet Drink”.
“A Quiet Drink” is a new level that will only be available for 10 days. Players will find the level via the Weekly Quest, so get on that now if you want to see what they’re hiding.
Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark, had this to say about the anniversary:
“Time really flies when you are having fun, and this year has flown by in hyper speed. Feels like just yesterday we ran our beta, introduced Chaos to the gamers, and premiered the extremely popular Twitch integration. Since the launch we have surpassed all expectations, with over two million sold games, and millions upon millions of hours played”.
Of course, it won’t be all fun and games. If anything, A Quiet Drink is likely to tie into the upcoming DLC this summer announced previously, Winds of Magic. How? We’ll get back to you shortly.
What is there to look forward to in the Winds of Magic? Bashing Skaven never gets old and the Chaos units do add a nice change to things, Winds of Magic brings the arrival of another enemy faction, the Beastmen.
As a meteor crashes down in the Reikland, the Beastmen emerge from the depths of the Reikwald forest and rush to the epicenter to claim it as a Herdstone.
It’s not just new targets, Winds of Magic will raise the level cap in the game as well as bringing a new difficulty level. Our heroes will have to face off against the Beastmen with one of the new five weapons being introduced. The real meat of the DLC will be the new game mode however, the Winds of Magic. Instead of a storied campaign like they have in the game, there’ll just be the one adventure level. The Winds of Magic system though will change how parties will play depending on a number of factors for constantly different encounters. For a proper dive into that, you should see the review in PC Gamer where they had the chance to sit down with the early version of the Weaves.
