Vermintide 2 Free Weekend Event This Weekend

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend then you might want to check out the Vermintide 2 free weekend event that has already started. From November 21 to the 24th you’ll be able to play the co-op Warhammer game completely free on Steam. You’ll also be able to play all of the DLCs for free if you’re invited by a player who owns the game and DLC.

“We are excited to bring Steam users the chance to play Vermintide 2” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “This will be a good opportunity to get into the battle and help the heroes fend off the Skaven and Chaos hordes.”

Throughout the weekend if you decide you like the game you’ll be able to buy the game for 75% off. The DLC as well as the collector’s edition are also on sale on Steam. You can get all of this on the official Vermintide 2 Steam page.

If you’re a little bit on the fence about the game check out our review of the base game which came out early last year. The reviewer still loves Vermintide as much as he did when he reviewed it, possibly even a bit more thanks to the expansions. I know this because I’m married to him. So, if you’re a fan of Warhammer or Left 4 Dead and you haven’t given Vermintide 2 a try yet this weekend is your chance. You won’t regret it.

Dark Age of Camelot is Now Free to Play

It has been nearly 2 years since we first reported about it but Dark Age of Camelot is now Free to Play. This new Free to Play option, called Endless Conquest is open to all new players and any old players who have had their accounts closed for at least 180 days.

There are a few restrictions on free to play accounts that you should be aware of before you jump in. First, you won’t have access to Champion Level Abilities. You’re also limited with a Realm Skill Point Spend Cap of 60/130. There’s also a Realm Switch Time of 4 hours versus 15 minutes for Veteran accounts. With a Race Change Token, you’ll only be able to change to EC-enabled races. You also won’t get Veteran rewards or Holiday Gifts. You’ll also be limited in which races and classes you can play. You also won’t have access to housing. Basically, all the restrictions that are put in place are pretty standard. Of course, you don’t have to play on a free to play account, you can still subscribe to the game to be a Veteran and have full access to everything DAoC has to offer.

Dark Age of Camelot is 18 years old and honestly, it’s a little bit surprising that they didn’t have a free to play option sooner. Let’s hope that this helps the game continue its amazing streak. If you want to give the game a try head over to the official website for Dark Age of Camelot (linked below) and create a new account!

The Division 2 is Free to Play This Weekend

If you haven’t tried it yet and you’re curious The Division 2 is free to play this weekend on all platforms it is available on. That’s PC, PS4, and Xbox One in case you didn’t know. During the free to play weekend, you’ll have access to the entire game. If you’ve taken part in previous free to play events you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off. If you do decide to buy the game any progress you’ve made during the free weekend will carry over.

Speaking of buying it, the game has been discounted 70% and the Year 1 Pass has been discounted 40% for the duration of the free to play weekend. The free to play weekend has already started and will continue to run until Monday, October 21st at 8 AM UTC for UPlay, PS4, and Xbox One and 5 PM UTC for the Epic store.

They have an FAQ on their official website but it is pretty small and is just made up of everything you just read. The one thing it doesn’t explain is why the free to play weekend. It’s to celebrate the launch of Episode 2, a massive game update and Title Update 6. Episode 2 is the new DLC that is tied to the Year 1 Pass. It includes 3 missions that are all around the Pentagon, which gives the episode its title, Pentagon: The Last Castle. Title Update 6 has revamped character customization, crafting, and a whole lot more. The update is available to everyone and doesn’t require the Year 1 Pass.

Funcom Conan Games Free to Play This Weekend

If you’ve been meaning to give the Funcom Conan games a try then this weekend you are in luck. Age of Conan: Unchained, Conan Exiles, and Conan Unconquered are all free to play on Steam this weekend. Age of Conan is a free to play MMO so technically it isn’t really included in this free weekend, but it sounds better when you can say that all of them are free to play. If you decide you want to buy Conan Exiles or Conan Unconquered they will also be available at a discounted price until September 30th.

As previously mentioned, Age of Conan is the free to play MMO from Funcom. It is an 11 year old game with a dedicated playerbase. It is perhaps best known for its female nudity. It has had a number of expansions which you will get in the Hyborean Collector’s Edition on Steam for 60% off.

Conan Exiles is a survival game that enjoyed quite a lot of popularity while that was the genre everyone was making. It’s best known for its penis slider as it offers equal opportunities for nudity. The Standard and Deluxe Editions are 50% off while the Complete Edition is available for 40% off.

Then there is Petroglyph’s RTS Conan Unconquered. Petroglyph is the studio made up of former Westwood employees who made Command & Conquer and Earth and Beyond. They worked with Funcom to make Conan Unconquered which is both single player and has online co-op options. Conan Unconquered available for 30% off.

Notably Conan Chop Chop isn’t included in this, and that’s because it was delayed until Q1 2020 so they could add more features to the game. This is a stick figure action combat game that was once just an April Fools Day joke and now is going to be a reality.

LOTRO VIP Subscriber Gift Available This Month

LOTRO VIP Subscribers will be able to get a special gift all month long, just for logging in. When anyone with an active VIP subscription logs in before the end of September they’ll be gifted with a free Armour of the Isengard Dispeller cosmetic set. Each of your characters will have to be logged in individually to get the set on them. The item will be found in your inventory. This gift will be available until September 30th for VIP and Lifetime VIP Subscribers. The items are Bound to Account, but getting them couldn’t be easier.

In addition to that from now until the 12th of September, you’ll be able to get 20% off select expansions and expansion quests, Enhanced XP Supply, HornburgToken, Skirmishes, Instances, and the 100% Mark Acquisition Boosts.

There’s also a new item to be found in the LOTRO Store, the Enduring Universal Toolkit.

The weekly coupon, which also lasts until September 12th will get you a Tome of Tracking. To get it use the code TRACKINGTOME in the store.

The armor is proving to be quite popular at the moment, so if you hope to stand out from the crowd…well, still get it, but maybe don’t put it on just yet or else you’ll end up looking like everyone else. It’s fantastic that the developers are offering free gifts to VIPs like this as an incentive to keep their subscriptions going. There are a lot of MMOs out there that could do with this sort of thing.

Free Online Games This Weekend

There are several different free online games available this weekend that we would normally cover on MMOGames so we wanted to make sure you know about them. To start with Black Desert Online is going to be free to play this weekend on Xbox One. This comes right as Pearl Abyss has opened up Kamasylvia opening up on Xbox One and while they’re gearing up for the release of the game on the PS4. They’re also offering 30% to 50% off all three bundles they offer, so, if you like the game you can get it discounted.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

The other game you can get for free is Mutant Year Zero. This, along with Hyper Light Drifter is free this week on the Epic Games Store. Mutant Year Zero is a big surprise because it did come out less than a year ago. But they did just recently launch an expansion so maybe it isn’t all that much of a surprise after all. Of course to get this free game or Hyper Light Drifter you have to get the Epic Games Store which is itself a whole different can of worms. One that some people refuse to touch. I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it’s worth getting. The Epic Store does offer free games pretty regularly though. So you might decide its worth it.

Skyforge New Horizons Expansion Launches Today

Today is the day Skyforge New Horizons, the free expansion, for the game releases. For the first time ever in Skyforge an expansion will take players to an entirely new planet, Terra. Terra is a world of ruined, overgrown cities with lush jungles and lifeless wastelands. Here players will encounter dangerous wildlife and an all-new race.

The expansion begins when scouting drones intercept messages in an unknown language. Later the drones capture strange-looking ships with advanced technology. Looking at the world it would appear that some sort of advanced warfare is taking place there as air pollution levels in some areas exceed safe limits many times over.

When players arrive on Terra they will find that the world is shaped by their actions and a new mechanic called Programs will help change the world around them. By upgrading programs researchers back on the home planet can do more research in particular areas and change how it appears. Doing this will unlock story chapters, special missions, and amazing rewards waiting to be uncovered.

To get the servers ready for New Horizons the game will be taken offline today for four hours, from 4 AM PST to 8 AM. If you’re looking for something to do while the servers are down you might be interested in giving the patch notes a look. They’re quite light on the details of the expansion, but they do offer some updates for specific classes as well as the Battle Royale mode.

Today is only the release of New Horizons on PC, it will be available for Playstation 4 tomorrow, on April 10th, and on Xbox One on April 11th. The expansion is free, however, there is a collector’s edition available for €/$ 24.99. The collector’s edition includes 14 days of premium subscription, 500,000 credits, and the Universe Conqueror Halo and Armor, along with a few other useful items.

Guild Wars 2 WvW Mount The Warclaw Announced

WvW players know all too well that content for the least popular game mode is rare, so when it does happen it’s something really exciting. That’s why we’re so excited that there’s a Guild Wars 2 WvW mount coming out. This mount won’t just get you around the battlefield quickly, though there is that benefit.

The Warclaw comes with three special abilities that will enhance your WvW gameplay. The first is Battle Maul. When you jump into battle while mounted your Warclaw will maul your enemy before it disappears. This is your standard attack and dismount move.

The second ability is Chain Pull and from a WvWer’s standpoint possibly the most exciting of the three abilities. Those on Warclaws will be able to help pull down gates to gain entrance to whatever structure the zerg is currently focused on. This is an advanced ability which almost certainly means that it will have to be unlocked. As of writing this, pre-embargo we don’t yet have that information.

The final ability is Evade. Get a quick burst of speed and evade attacks allowing you to break through enemy lines. This will be especially useful in Castle sieges where getting a team through the hall quickly to attack from behind will add a very interesting new element to the event.

The Warclaw is will be available on February 26th for anyone who owns Path of Fire. While we may have to wait a week before we can play with it we can see it now in this fantastic trailer.

As someone who is a long time fan of WvW, I’m especially intrigued to see what kind of impact Warclaw will have on WvW. Though I suspect that having the mount will become a requirement for taking part in the game. This has the potential to leave some people behind who haven’t bought Path of Fire and have no plans to do so. Expect WvW queues to come back for the next few days as everyone wants to give the new mount a try.

If you’re interested in The Warclaw it can only be obtained in WvW but, it can be summoned anywhere other mounts can be summoned. That means you will be able to use it in the open world. However, the Chain Pull ability is something that has very limited use in the main PvE part of the world. So, while it will be fun for getting around with it may not have much utility. Still, how many Charr are we going to see running around riding on Warkitties? The answer is a lot…including me.
