Don’t let that headline fool you – the Overwatch Halloween Terror 2018 may just be a collection of cosmetics only with no major gameplay changes, but we’ve got to admit that they are some pretty stellar costumes.
A few of the new skins for this year have already been unveiled in the run-up to the event, including Banshee Moira, Swamp Monster Doomfist, Jack O Lantern Wrecking Ball and others, but there are a couple of surprises in the mix including an Enchanted Armor skin for Pharah, a Bride of Frankenstein skin for Sombra, and a Pumpkin skin for Mei.
There are also a couple of new highlight intros for Winston and Brigitte, a new emote for Bastion, and a number of new sprays and player icons. Of course, the event brings back all of the old cosmetics from previous years and the return of Junkenstein’s Revenge in Classic and Endless Night modes.
The update hasn’t just brought Halloween. There’s also several hero adjustments, including the newly reworked Torbjorn and a tweak to Pharah that sees her rockets fire more frequently and deal more direct damage but less splash damage. All of the patch notes are here.
Yes, it’s a bit of a letdown that there’s not a lot of gameplay meat to this year’s Halloween festivities, but we continue to be mightily impressed with the cosmetics offered by Overwatch. Just…let’s have some new stuff to do game-wise next time, huh? Please?
