Black Desert Mobile Elaborates on Systems and Features

You’ve got Q’s. The devs of the upcoming Black Desert Mobile have A’s. Yep, it’s a Black Desert Mobile Q&A session, where the devs have collected some question from interested players and provided some insight on things like character skills, guilds and other systems.

black desert mobile q&a

Black Desert Mobile players will get to pick either a Giant, Warrior, Valkyrie, Ranger or Witch to start the game and their skills will be very similar to those on the PC version…except when they’re not. The devs have stated there will be some new skills or existing skills that are applied differently for the mobile version, including a Black Spirit skill exclusive to the title.

Guilds in Black Desert Mobile will be about 30 people at maximum, with content such as Guild Raids and a guild base available at launch. Other guild-related activities such as Node and Siege Wars will be added in later updates.

As far as the kind of device needed to play the game, the devs state that phones similar in spec to a Galaxy S5 should be able to run Black Desert Mobile, but they do bookend by saying that optimizations are still being worked out.

The Q&A session also goes over the weight system, family name details, character creation and equipment enhancement. You can read the full Q&A on Gamasutra for more.

BDO Mobile is planned to release globally sometime in 2018, with a Korean launch planned to go live first.

Our Thoughts

Sounds like the mobile edition of BDO is going to be a pretty beefy piece of mobile MMO gaming. Of course, we’re still waiting to learn a bit more about specs for this one as well as deeper dives into the game’s systems, but we’re sure to receive those details over the course of this year.

Blade & Soul Revolution: Second Blade & Soul Mobile Game Announced

Netmarble has revealed that they’re developing Blade & Soul Revolution, a mobile MMORPG. If you’re getting a sense of déjà vu don’t worry, you aren’t. Just a few days ago NCSoft announced they’re working on a new mobile game in the Blade & Soul universe. That one is being called Blade & Soul II. There hasn’t been any information released about it yet, only a teaser trailer which you can watch below. Our friends at MMOCulture have also reported that it is being made using Unreal Engine 4. The storyline will be based on the one from the PC game and iconic features like flying will be available. We’re expecting for there to be a lot more information about Blade & Soul Revolution next week at G-Star 2017 where it will reportedly be playable.

You may be asking yourself what Netmarble is doing making a mobile game for an NCSoft IP. I certainly was. NCSoft is actually the 4th largest shareholder of Netmarble with a 9.8% stake in the company. According to an article from MMOCulture back in May Netmarble is actually more valuable than NCSoft and Nexon after IPO. In fact, it is more valuable than LG Electronics who make television, phones, tablets, and home appliances. The more I started to dig into who owns a stake in what company from the MMO creators of the East the more of a headache I got. It would seem that everyone has a little bit of money in everyone else. NCSoft, Netmarble, Nexon, Tencent, CJ E&M are just a few of the names.

If you’re interested in finding out more about NCSoft’s upcoming Blade & Soul mobile MMO you can find it on our news post about it from earlier in the week which includes a teaser trailer. It’s an important move for NCSoft as their mobile games section has seen more than 400% increase in revenue in the third quarter according to the recently released NCSoft Quarterly Report.

ArcheAge Mobile Launches Globally

If you’re among those who want to take your ArcheAge on the go or are curious to learn about the history of the PC version, the global ArcheAge Begins launch is right up your alley. ArcheAge’s mobile version is now available everywhere.

global archeage begins launch

ArcheAge Begins is set 1,000 years before the events of ArcheAge on PC and lets players take control of the series’ most popular heroes four at a time in a party. The mobile title boasts Unreal 4-powered graphics, a strategic “card-flip” battle system, and the ability to group up with other players or take part in PvP.

ArcheAge Begins is free-to-play and available on the Google Play store. The iOS version is currently “under review” and will release sometime soon. An announcement on when the iOS version will release is expected to be announced on the game’s Facebook page.

Our Thoughts

We’re very curious to see what ArcheAge Begins is like and how fans of the IP will take to the title. Details on just what this “card-flip” battle system involves are a bit sparse, but our curiosity is certainly piqued. Will you be taking a look or would you rather stick with the “proper” PC edition?
