There’s lots of things one must survive in the survival genre, from dinosaurs to space to Hyboria itself. In Perfect World Entertainment’s Remnant: From the Ashes announcement, a different setting is on offer: a semi-futuristic world ravaged by a demonic threat.
Remnant: From the Ashes is in development from the folks at Gunfire Games, the same studio that’s currently working on the next Darksiders title. In it, players enter a ravaged Earth that is under siege by the Root, a race of extra-dimensional beings that range in size from small terrors to hulking behemoths.
Players are encouraged to band together, both with NPC tradesmen to unlock crafting and upgrade opportunities and with other players in teams of up to four. Levels in Remnant will be dynamically generated, each promising their own unique environmental and monster challenges, and players can upgrade and customize their character to suit their playstyle.
“Remnant: From the Ashes is about working together to build something bigger than yourself,” said Gunfire Games co-founder David Adams in a statement. “That idea is core to our approach to the game.”
Remnant is expected to rise from the ashes of development sometime in 2019 and will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. More details can be found on the game’s website and a trailer for the upcoming survival shooter can be seen below.
…very intriguing indeed! While the team-up mechanics sound very small scale in terms of multiplayer scope, we have to admit that a demon-infested modern world could make for a very awesome and intense survival gameplay experience. We’re certainly very curious, but we’d also love to know what you think about this new reveal, so be sure to sound off with your initial impressions in the comments below and tell us what you think about this game.
