Shadowgun Legends Releasing on Nintendo Switch

It was announced today that Madfinger’s mobile, first-person shooter RPG will soon be available on the Nintendo Switch. Shadowgun Legends has already been downloaded more than 1 million times on Android devices and currently has a 4.6/5 rating on Google Play.

Madfinger games is typically known for its Dead Trigger series, as it was one of the first studios to brings quality FPS action to mobile devices. Now it’s making the leap to console gaming with 200 missions across 4 planets, raids, co-op, and PvP. As players progress, the will have access to new equipment, weapons and abilities. Shadowgun Legends is also expected to run at a solid 60 FPS on native resolution.

“We are super excited about the opportunity to bring our most ambitious game to Nintendo Switch players,” said CEO and creative director of MADFINGER Games Marek Rabas.
“Our goal is to deliver the best FPS game on Switch.”

Our Thoughts

Shadowgun Legends is already a great experience on mobile devices, but we expect it to be even better with the control options and more powerful hardware of the Nintendo Switch.

7 Multiplayer Mobile Games You Should Play in 2018

With all the talk recently about how mobile games are dominating the scene and the fact that summer vacation is right around the corner, we thought it was time to take a look at 7 multiplayer mobile games you should play in 2018.

Hearthstone

Release Date: March 11, 2014
Developer: Blizzard
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: Card Game

Hearthstone is a great game for anyone who only has 10-15 minutes to spare in between things, as well as a great game to play for long periods of time. Its one of the oldest games on this list but don’t let its age fool you. The game is still going strong with more than 70 million registered players as of May 2017. In August 2017 it was making as much as $70 million per month so it is safe to say that Hearthstone isn’t going anywhere any time soon. The most recent expansion to the game, The Witchwood was released in mid-April 2018 and included a single player mode called Monster Hunt.

Shadowgun Legends

Release Date: March 22, 2018
Developer: Madfinger Games
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: FPS

If you’re looking to get your Destiny fix while you’re on the road then Shadowgun Legends is the game for you. The game is gorgeous and constantly being compared to Destiny, with good reason! The game has only been live for a few months now but it spent quite a while in development and it’s also the third game in the Shadowgun series. It is incredibly well polished and a total blast to play. Thanks to it being the third game in the series it has a large, dedicated fanbase. This is another great game for when you’re short on time you can spend playing in one sitting.

Ingress

Ingress
Release Date: December 14, 2013
Developer: Niantic
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: Location-based AR

If you thought Pokemon Go was fun for a little while but found yourself craving more then you might want to try its older brother, Ingress. Ingress will take you to interesting locations all over the world as you fight on one side of a war that spans the globe. There aren’t any Pokemon to catch, instead, you’ll be catching memories. It makes a fantastic tool for sightseeing and you can even play it at the airport. It has a built-in chat system so you’ll be able to coordinate with locals wherever you go. The Ingress community is incredibly involved, with most large cities hosting weekly faction meetups. That makes it a great way to meet new people while you travel.

Minecraft

Release Date: December 19, 2016
Developer: Mojang
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: Sandbox

Its Minecraft, do I really need to say more?

Oh….my editor says I do.

Well, unlike other games on this list Minecraft isn’t free to play, you can pick it up in your device’s store for $6. It isn’t quite as good as the PC version, but if you’re hoping to lure your Minecraft addicted child away from the computer this is a good way to do it. It can be played alone or you can go multiplayer with your friends. Because of its sandbox nature, you can easily pick it up and put it down as much as you need to. Though if we’re being honest you’re more likely to end up getting sucked in for the whole day, so if your plan is to lay on a beach and play a bit of Minecraft you might want to put some sunblock on first. We wouldn’t want you to turn into a lobster. This is the sort of game that makes you wish you had packed your power bank.

PUBG Mobile

Release Date: March 19, 2018
Developer: PUBG Corp
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: Battle Royale

Ooooh, here we go being controversial by putting PUBG at number 3! This is a decision based purely on the numbers. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds doesn’t seem to be doing amazingly on mobile. That’s not to say that it isn’t popular, it really, really is. It just isn’t making as much money as their biggest competitor. The Battle Royale genre is the current fad for this summer and you can fully expect to see people playing one of the two biggest titles in the genre on their phone everywhere you go. As this game is a literal life or death kind of game, we can’t recommend you play it if you’re going to be distracted a lot or you only have a short time to play. But if you’re stuck in the backseat of the car or on an airplane then this game will do just fine to help you pass the time.

Vainglory

Release Date: July 2, 2015
Developer: Super Evil Megacorp
Platform: iOS, Android
Genre: MOBA

Remember a couple years ago when MOBAs were the big craze that every studio was chasing? Believe it or not, the MOBA scene is actually still going strong, and not just in esports. No one is making new MOBAs anymore, but we do have some older gems that are still worth playing. The best MOBA to be released on mobile was Vainglory and you can still play it right now.

Fortnite Mobile

Release Date: April 2018
Developer: Epic
Platform: iOS, Android (coming soon)
Genre: Battle Royale

If you’ve been following gaming at all this year, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Fortnite is number one on our list. The game has been dominating gaming since it released and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. At the moment it’s only available on iOS but it is set to release on Android sometime this summer. It’s free to play and has in-game monetization that fans don’t find annoying at all. In fact, on average Fortnite mobile players are spending more money than those playing PUBG, so Epic must be doing something right.

Shadowgun Legends Launches Globally

By the announcement’s own admission, it’s been a long, tough process. That hard work has finally paid off, however, with today’s Shadowgun Legends global launch. Madfinger Games’ fast-paced FPS for mobile devices is now available for players to download on both iOS and Android devices.

shadowgun legends global launch

All of the trappings of a good MMO shooter are promised to be waiting in Shadowgun Legends: a campaign, co-op raid content, competitive PvP, RPG elements such as a Fame system, and a social hub for a bit of downtime as described earlier this month when the studio confirmed the game’s launch date.

Today’s global launch culminates in three years’ worth of work for Madfinger Games, which hopes that Shadowgun Legends will open up eyes in mobile gaming. “We promised ourselves one thing – we would stretch our resources to the limit in order to maximize on all the skills we have at our disposal,” said CEO Mark Rabas. “We strongly believe that with Shadowgun Legends we have created a totally unique game experience, because mobile platform capabilities are unlimited.”

The game is free-to-play on either the App Store, Google Play and nVidia’s Shield TV. There’s also a launch trailer, of course, which can be seen below.

Our Thoughts

Congratulations are certainly in order to Madfinger Games for their release of Shadowgun Legends. We’re definitely interested to see just how well this game plays, but we’re also looking forward to seeing how much support it gets from players at launch and how much support it gets from the devs post-launch.

Mobile FPS Shadowgun Legends Confirms its Release Date

Things have been comparatively quiet from Madfinger Games, but that’s likely due to a lot of hard work, which has lead to the official Shadowgun Legends launch date being announced today by the developers. Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, the announcement came with a trailer that is definitely not quiet.

shadowgun legends launch date

Shadowgun Legends promises an “epic” story campaign where players face off against an alien menace known as the Torment, multiplayer in both co-op and PvP flavors, a central social hub for players to interact in, and lots of loot to collect. The team is also already promising “massive player-driven updates” in the near future.

The mobile FPS will be making its way to your cellphone this coming Thursday, March 22nd. Players can choose to pre-register either through Google Play or a special website, where the number of pre-registered players will unlock extra in-game rewards such as a unique cosmetic and a special emote. You can also check out the aforementioned not-quiet trailer below.

Our Thoughts

Shadowgun Legends definitely looks like the closest thing to “proper” FPS gaming that the mobile games market will ever get, so we’re definitely ready to see this one make its full debut. Here’s hoping controlling a space marine guy on a touch screen doesn’t feel as ponderous as it sounds.

The MMO Alpha and Beta List: October 20, 2017

We aren’t seeing the typical influx of spooky or creepy Halloween like games that we so often see this time of year. This is one of the reasons the beta list doesn’t seem very active at the moment. If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit, check out our list of Halloween events in MMOs that are already live.

If you take a look at the list you’ll only see 4 new items this week. That’s because a lot of what happened in the industry this week had to do with delaying launches, opening up the beta to more people, and other things like that.

Starting all of that off is Shadowgun Legends which just launched their closed beta on Thursday. Because it’s the first round of closed beta, only a select number of people were invited, but you can expect more to be added over time.

Legends of Aria wrapped up alpha testing this week. They don’t have any plans yet for when they will move into beta, however.

Closers is opening up their closed alpha this weekend to allow the public a chance to give it a try, so if you’ve been wanting to try out the anime style game, this is your chance.

Life is Feudal announced they would be going into open beta on November 17th but based on the language they use, it sounds more like a soft launch than an actual beta.

The new game on the list this week is Starborne. It is a 4X MMORTS and the first game made by Icelandic developers Solid Clouds, an indie studio with industry veterans including Ásgeir Ásgeirsson, EVE Online’s former Art Director, and Hrafnkell Óskarsson, who spearheaded the design and lore of EVE Online.

And to wrap up the week, we learned that Conan Exiles’ launch will be delayed until Q2 2018. This will give Funcom more time to put polish on the game.

As always you can find all of this and more in the lists below. Keep an eye out for the new  flag which will show you what was newly added this week.

Don’t forget that Destiny 2 is coming to PC next week!
