Snoop Dogg Has a Mural with Star Trek Online Artwork on It

We know now thanks to a new Netflix show that Snoop Dogg has a mural with Star Trek Online artwork on it hanging at his BLE Compound in Los Angeles. The mural was spotted by Twiiter user @justinhall who tweeted a picture from the show saying “Uh can anyone why it is that @SnoopDogg has a giant mural of Federation starships in his house? Folks I am absolutely stunned.”

The picture is from Episode 1 of the new Netflix series Rhythm + Flow which has been out since October 9th. The mural is actually a massive custom wall graphic that was created by Gamut Media called Star Wars vs Star Trek. Snoop has never been shy about his love for Star Trek, he has previously released music through Star Trak Entertainment and he was an executive producer on Unbelievable!!!!! A parody that had more than 40 former Star Trek actors in it.

Star Trek Online saw the tweet and asked Snoop if he plays STO and has invited him to appear on their Stream. Fans meanwhile have started calling for Captain Snoop to be added to the game, voiced by the man himself of course. So far there has been no reply from him but we’re going to be keeping our eyes peeled and our fingers crossed!

So there we have it, Snoop Dogg is officially a nerd and he’s got the massive mural to prove it. There have also been rumors going around for years that he plays Star Trek Online or at least did at one point in time but we can’t confirm them. What we do know is that his custom mural has Star Trek Online concept art on it and the whole thing looks totally badass.

New Star Trek Online Starship Models Announced

When you think of model ships it isn’t often that those in an MMORPG come to mind, but two Star Trek Online starship models were announced at Destination Star Trek in Birmingham. There will be two models created by Hero Collector which have made over 180 different Star Trek models.

The two ships that will be joining that lineup from Star Trek Online are the Gagarin-Class Federation Battlecruiser and the Chimera-Class Federation Heavy Destroyer. They already have the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-F from Star Trek Online in the model collection as well. Plus, there are more being worked on to be released in the future. The Chimera Class ship is from Victory is Life and was captained by Nog, voiced by Aron Eisenberg. While the Gagarin Class ship was released in the game to celebrate Star Trek: Discovery.

Each ship is recreated in die-cast using high-quality ABS materials and hand-painted by the company’s artists. Sadly, they won’t be out in time for Christmas this year but if there’s a big Star Trek Online fan in your life, or you are one yourself, you might consider them for your birthday next year. There is no release date for them yet except that they will release in 2020. There also isn’t a price announced yet nor is there a size. The Enterprise F is 14 cm though, if you want an idea of what you’re in for.

With the Enterprise F and the Chimera from STO they’ve covered my favorite ships from the game. But, I’m still really looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

Star Trek Online Players Hold Torchlight Vigil for Actor Aron Eisenberg

Actor Aron Eisenberg, best known for his portrayal of Nog in Star Trek Deep Space Nine in the 90s died over the weekend at the age of 50. He also appeared in Star Trek Online, reprising his role as Nog, now Captain Nog. A torchlight vigil was held in his honor by players in Quark’s bar on Deep Space 9.

On the Star Trek Online subreddit, fans shared stories of meeting Aron Eisenberg and talked about the impact he had both on Star Trek Online and on Deep Space Nine.

A GoFundMe campaign was started to help his family take care of the costs of his funeral and any other expenses they may need to take care of. The campaign raised more than $20,000 before it was shut down.

Star Trek Online posted a tribute to Eisenberg saying, “We’ve lost a member of our family today. Rest in Peace, Aron, thank you so much for always brightening our lives with everything you did.”

Though his cause of death has not yet been released it is commonly known that he had suffered from kidney problems his entire life. He was born with only one partially functioning kidney and received several kidney transplants.

Since his death, there has been an outpouring of love and support from friends, Star Trek family, and fans alike. He was a fantastic actor and played one of the most memorable characters in all of Star Trek’s history. We’re sure that the Registrar welcomed him through the gates of the Divine Treasury and it was his fans that lit the pathway to the gates.

Star Trek Online Rise of Discovery Launches Today

Today Star Trek Online Rise of Discovery launched on PC, bringing Captain Gabriel Lorca and Commander Ellen Landry to the MMO. They are of course voiced by Jason Isaacs and Rekha Sharma from the Star Trek Discovery TV series.

In the first season of Star Trek Discovery, we were introduced to Captain Lorca with very little detail on his past and how he came to be in command of the USS Discovery. Now, in Star Trek Online fans will get the opportunity to find out more about his past. Rise of Discovery takes place just one month after the Battle at the Binary Stars. The update features two new episodes, introduces a new tier 6 reputation called “Discovery Legends,” and more.

Discovery Legends will allow players to earn Discovery themed rewards and all of the Discovery Task Force Operations will now feature Advanced and Elite versions that have been converted to support this new reputation and pay out Discovery Legend Marks.

Plus, starting today level restrictions have been removed for Tier 6 starships. This goes into effect on all platforms; PC, PS4, and Xbox One at the same time. Premium ships will scale to the player character’s level for the first time in STO history.

While this update launches today on PC, console players will have to wait until June 25th to get everything Rise of Discovery has to offer.

Also, to celebrate the release of Rise of Discovery Star Trek Online is teaming up with Star Trek: The Cruise and SteelSeries for an exclusive giveaway. From now until May 26th players can visit the Star Trek Online blog for a chance to win a cabin for 2 aboard Star Trek: The Cruise IV, a seven day cruise across the Caribbean with Star Trek stars like William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, Jonathan Frakes, and Ethan Peck, just to name a few. The grand prize winner will also receive every starship currently available in the C-store on PC and a sweet prize pack from SteelSeries.

Star Trek Online Update Introduces Discovery Captains Into the Fold

Perfect World Entertainment’s Star Trek Online has offered some great universes to explore. But with its latest update, it’ll give Star Trek Discovery fans something they can truly savor.

Star Trek Online Update Introduces Discovery Captains

The latest update, titled Rise of Discovery, is set to launch on May 14 for PC, with a release sometime later this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In it, new missions will be available, alongside a couple of familiar faces from the CBS All-Access show. These include Captain Gabriel Lorca (voiced by Jason Isaacs) and Commander Ellen Landry (voiced by Rekha Sharma).

Star Trek Online players will fight alongside the U.S.S. Buran and learn what happened to both Lorca and Landry, before they joined the crew of the U.S.S Discovery. Rise of Discovery also introduces a brand new reputation and a ship system update that scales all Tier 6 starships to individual player levels, granting all Captains access to the game’s finest vessels,” the company noted in a press release.

“After the first season of Star Trek: Discovery drew to an exciting close, many fans were left with unanswered questions about Gabriel Lorca. Star Trek Online players can now uncover the truth behind the Federation captain’s past through the eyes of his trusted commanding officer, Ellen Landry. Rise of Discovery takes place when both Lorca and Landry were assigned to the U.S.S. Buran, before they beamed aboard the U.S.S. Discovery. Players answer a distress call from the Federation starship after it sustains heavy damage from Klingon forces, led by J’Ula, the matriarch of House Mo’Kai. The attack leaves its sole survivor, Captain Lorca, stranded on a desolate ice moon littered with Klingon search parties. His fate now lies in the hand of Star Trek Online players, who must team up with Commander Landry to ensure his survival.

“The update also introduces a new Tier 6 reputation, – Discovery Legends – which allows players to earn Discovery themed rewards by completing Task Force Operations. Starting May 14, all of Star Trek Online’s Tier 6 starships will be converted to player level-less scaling, allowing Captains with varying experience to command these powerful vessels at any time. Additional details on these game features will be revealed at launch.”

Star Trek Online Introducing Captain Killy for Mirror of Discovery

Star Trek Online is introducing Captain Killy and the I.S.S Discovery in Mirror of Discovery. Mirror of Discovery will take players through two new episodes that feature Captain Killy in the events that took place after the TV series. Captain Killy will, of course, be voiced by Mary Wiseman, the actress who plays Ensign Tilly on Star Trek: Discovery.

But Mirror of Discovery isn’t the only thing Star Trek Online players have to look forward to right now. This month Star Trek Online is celebrating their 9th anniversary! To celebrate they’re bringing back the ever-popular Omega Molecule Stabilization event. Players who stabilize Q’s Omega particles can earn free Omega Particle tech upgrades as well as prize voucher which can be turned in to get a new T6 Vulcan Scout Ship as was seen in Star Trek: Discovery.

A new Personal Endeavor System is also being introduced. It will allow players to complete daily challenges to earn account-wide performance boosts. Plus, by popular demand, the Battle at the Binary Stars Event is now available as a Task Force Operation.

There’s also a whole lot more Star Trek: Discovery to come to Star Trek Online in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for a new Task Force Operation that takes players to Pahvo for another uprising against the Terran Empire. There will also be new Discovery related Task Force Operation rewards. More information about those will be available on the Star Trek Online official blog in the near future.

Also, if you enjoyed Star Trek: Discovery season 1 this is your reminder that the second season has started and the first episode is already available on CBS All Access.
