If you’re a follower of Fortnite Battle Royale, then you’re perhaps familiar with the odd story of a spotted distant meteor that looked like it was headed for the Tilted Towers area but apparently never arrived. Last night, a large group of players decided to take matters into their own hands.
The event to personally destroy Tilted Towers was put together by Redditor xsqoof and went down at about 6pm EST on the Oceania server. Dozens of solo players dropped into the Tilted Towers area, began hacking away at the structures to bring everything down, and then built a broad swath of rooftop pieces over the remains.
xsqoof called the event a “wake ceremony” intended to “honor this soon-to be fallen location by standing united and in harmony.” Naturally, there were some invading trolls who tried to blend in with the proceedings and blow away as many people as possible, but those in attendance of the event either dealt with the matter directly or were otherwise not broken up about it. By all accounts, the community initiative went off to the delight of many.
“It’s amazing how everyone can come together for a game to make something cool happen. I did get killed though, f**k you to whoever shot me,” wrote one participant. “I destroyed a house with someone. I am happy,” wrote another.
“Thank you all so much for taking your time to participate in the Wake Ceremony,” wrote xsqoof in a post-event follow-up. “I’m glad to have moved the community in such a way and to have coordinated this entire event because it blew up and I really wasn’t expecting it to.”
Video footage of one of these Tilted Towers takedowns is embedded below.
Hah! Well, that’s certainly one way for Tilted Towers to meet its doom! Trolls be damned, it’s awesome that players of Fortnite BR were able to come together and hack down an entire portion of the game’s map just for the heck of it.
