TennoCon 2019 Shows off New Content Coming to Warframe

TennoCon 2019 was held this weekend. The sold-out fourth annual Warframe conference was not only great fun but also a fantastic place for Digital Extremes to present upcoming content for the game. That included not one, but two updates to Warframe; Nightwave Series 2 and Wukong Prime Access. Both of which were made available immediately on all platforms. Check out the trailers for both of those below.

But, that wasn’t all that TennoCon had to offer Warframe fanatics. Here are just a few of the other things that were shown off during TennoCon 2019.

Squad Link – Connect with the community to take part in multi-objective missions in which you can help lower enemy shields, steal valuable data, and much more. Squad Link allows you to reach out for multiplayer support to help with these objectives.

Enemy Ship Infiltration – Players can now infiltrate enemy ships using Archwings and command them in a variety of missions. Yes, this means you can become a space pirate.

Drydock – Customize your Railjack with equipment, new systems, reinforcements, and of course cosmetics. You’ll have a wide variety of customization options available to you that allow you to make your Railjack look cool and have a great name.

Kingpin System – Enemies have begun adapting, resulting in new reactive enemies. This new system is rolling out with the Kuva Lich and Emra Rok first in an epic boss fight on the capital ship.

This was really just the beginning of everything that was shown at TennoCon, to go into it all we’d need several articles or to recommend you watch the full stream. Other things that were highlighted include updated graphics, a new introduction, and the opportunity to win $250,000 towards a trip to space.

The Jovian Concord Update Coming To Warframe On PC Next Week

Many Warframe fans have already been enjoying the recent Plains of Eidolon Remaster update that came around. But there’s more where that came from, as another update, The Jovian Concord, is set to arrive next week. And it’s bringing…parkour!

But there’s more to the update than that. The Jovian Conchord will bring “full graphic overhaul of the Tenno-favorite Jupiter tileset (AKA ‘Gas City’), now with reworked environments and gameplay,” according to the press release. In addition, it also “enables Tenno to wield the powerful 40th Warframe ‘Wisp’ to experience a variety of new enemies including the deadly new flying Eidolon boss. “

“Beneath gaseous bronze clouds lies the opportunity to explore something surprisingly new. The Jovian Concord reimagines the original Warframe environment with a vast level of physical terrain, every inch offering a fresh look and feel. Using nimble parkour skills, Tenno can explore internal heights and face new hazards or gauge their chances outside by leaping through the air along floating stations, distant platforms, crossbars, antennas, and more,” developer Digital Extremes explained.

“Longtime villain Alad V’s twisted experiments with Sentient technology have yielded hideous cyborg-like results — Amalgam variants and Jetpack Agents — whose laboratories hide a deeper sinister plot. Through new Sabotage, Rescue and Spy missions, and even a new gameplay mode, “Disruption”, Tenno will piece together frightening tidbits of lore that could lay the groundwork for a looming war — all before confronting Gas City’s deadliest threat, the ever-present menace the Ropalolyst.”

As far as what features fans can expect, they’re broken down below:

  • RESERVOIRS: Choose and summon a Reservoir filled with Motes that attach to and aid Wisp and her allies. Haste Mote grants increased movement and attack speed. Vitality Mote increases maximum health and heals over time. Shock Mote stuns nearby enemies.
  • WIL-O-WISP: Cast forward a spectral image of Wisp to confuse and distract enemies. Reactivate to travel to its position. Hold to have the image travel faster and teleport to its position on release.
  • BREACH SURGE: Open a dimensional breach to overwhelm nearby enemies and cause them to release aggressive Surge sparks when damaged.
  • SOL GATE: Open a portal to the sun to irradiate enemies with a devastating beam of pure solar plasma.

As noted, the update will be available for PC next week. There’s no word on when it’ll come to consoles, but the developers note to look for it “soon.”

Warframe Gets a Full Remaster of Plains of Eidolon On Steam

If you’ve been looking to revisit some classic territory in the world of Warframe on PC, Digital Extremes has you covered with a remaster of the Plains of Eidolon!

warframe Plains of Eidolon

The publisher announced today that the game has received a new update that provides a visual overhaul of the breakthrough open-world from the game, which is available today. “Retrofit with the graphics technology created for last fall’s Landscape FortunaPlains of Eidolon Remaster delivers dynamic lighting, textures and atmosphere, resurfaced terrain for better K-Drive Hoverboard action, and introduces conservation and a new Grineer menace, the wily Tusk Thumpers. Plains of Eidolon Remaster is free on PC today,” the company noted in a press statement.

The trailer for the new expansion can be seen below, and shows just how much the team has made improvements on the visual side.

“The graphical overhaul will enhance every visual aspect of Plains of Eidolon Remaster. Warframe‘s open world will see advanced lightning techniques that bring brilliant lighting and shadow changes to the day-night cycle, sending god rays through more detailed trees, bush and fog, and will add crisp new texture details to the foliage and earthen landscape.

New terrain also provides more gameplay! For the K-Drive, players will experience new terrain to jump off and grind on, and they should keep an eye out for the new Tusk Thumper enemies, three different pneumatic ground-pounders that smash anything in their way as they crawl and leap across the Plains. Tenno can now earn a new badge for hunting and conserving three new animals on the Plains– previously only available on Fortuna– and special Floofs with which to decorate their Orbiters.”

The update is currently available for PC. Don’t worry, console owners, you’ll be getting it as well, but a little later down the road. Yes, this includes Nintendo Switch as well.

Check out the awesome trailer and prepare to jump back into some Warframe action! It’s available now as a free-to-play title on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Warframe’s Nintendo Switch Version is Live

What’s arguably one of the most anticipated MMO releases for Nintendo Switch owners is finally here. Today marks the Warframe Nintendo Switch launch, bringing the hyper-sci-fi action MMO to the system and all of its five years of content.

warframe nintendo switch launch

When the game’s presser references five years of content, it does indeed mean the entire kit n’ kaboodle — 23 updates, 36 Warframes, the open-world location of the Plains of Eidolon, and all the content up to Mask of the Revenant are packed in to the Switch’s launch version.

Other features that are distinct to the Switch version are the inclusion of motion controls and built-in voice chat, which doesn’t require the Nintendo Online app to use. As for the game’s Prime Access program, that will include Nova Prime, Mag Prime, and Chroma Prime.

Future updates to the Switch release will focus on the latest Fortuna content like the new open-world location and Garuda Warframe. The devs expect the Switch version to have parity with all other console editions at some point in 2019.

To mark the game’s arrival to the system, Warframe is giving out a bundle of items for free. This bundle includes 50k Credits, a 3-day Affinity Booster, a Forma, an Orokin Catalyst, and an Orokin Reactor. Players must claim this bundle from their in-game mail before December 4.

Our Thoughts

It will definitely be interesting to see how well Warframe plays on the Nintendo Switch and how big this game’s community will grow as a result. In both cases, we expect good things for Warframe and want to congratulate all of the devs and publishers on the release.

Warframe Fortuna Hits Steam This Week

I’m a huge proponent of not stopping one’s understanding of the news by a headline alone, but in this case it really is as simple as the above headline indicates: Warframe Fortuna, the action MMO’s second open world update, is making its way to PC Steam this week.

warframe fortuna

Just in case you weren’t among those paying attention, Fortuna will bring players to a terraformed version of Venus, promising new and old players plenty of things to do. Much like the highly successful Plains of Eidolon update, Fortuna will see players performing activities in the open world like exploring, hunting, mining, fishing, and facing off against the Nef Anyo and Corpus.

The Fortuna update will also bring the new Garuda Warframe online. This vicious new Frame’s powers are primarily fueled by her own blood, so players will need to balance draining of their own health in exchange for highly damaging abilities.

The entire update will make its way to PC at some point this week and to Xbox One and PS4 owners soon after.

Our Thoughts

Second verse, same as the first…but then again, considering how well received Eidolon was, we can’t really blame Digital Extremes for making another open world area. After all, we did want to see more of this sort of content in Warframe and that’s precisely what we’re getting. Consider us eager to take a peek.

Warframe Confirms its Nintendo Switch Launch Date

It still impresses me to know that Warframe on Nintendo Switch is going to be a thing, let alone the fact that we have a Warframe Nintendo Switch launch date. During the Nintendo Direct announcement livestream, the game’s arrival to the console was granted its calendar date.

warframe nintendo switch launch date

As with the other versions of Warframe, it will arrive free-to-play to Nintendo Switch owners this coming Tuesday, November 20th. The announcement, however, does not confirm some of the bigger questions – namely whether there will be any cross-platform or account migration or whether subscription to Nintendo Online will be necessary.

On the latter, it will be perhaps likely judging by the small blurb on Nintendo’s website. As for the former, a tweet from the game states that more details on this front are incoming. We’ve also reached out to our press contact for some more information and will update the story as soon as it arrives.

In more immediate Warframe news, the game’s Mask of the Revenant update has arrived to the current console versions of the MMO. This update includes the unique Revenant Warframe and the Frame Fighter fighting mini-game and some other items. There will also be a livestream coming today, September 14th at 2pm EST on the game’s Twitch channel which promises to provide more reveals regarding the Fortuna open world area.

Our Thoughts

Warframe is just making some huge moves overall and we couldn’t be more excited. We are definitely interested in seeing how this fast-paced action MMO plays on Nintendo’s system and will certainly have eyes on this upcoming Fortuna livestream.

Warframe Getting New Open World and Nintendo Switch Version

As usual, this year’s TennoCon was chock-full of huge announcements. Just in case you’re a Warframe fan and somehow missed out on the announcements from Saturday, then allow us to take you through confirmation of the Warframe Nintendo Switch release, along with a new open-world area and a new PvE experience involving space combat coming to the action MMO.

warframe nintendo switch release

Yep, the folks at Digital Extremes have confirmed that they’re working with Panic Button – the studio behind the Switch versions of Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Rocket League – to bring their hi-fi sci-fi action MMO to the platform in full. Unfortunately, there’s no release date yet; all we’ve got right now is confirmation that it’s in development and a trailer.

As for Warframe as it stands now, another new open world region is due for the game in what’s perhaps an unsurprising move considering how well-received Plains of Eidolon was. This new content expansion, Fortuna, will take Tenno to the titular underground city of the Solaris United cyborg faction, which serves as the gathering area before players head out to the open realm of Orb Vallis.

While exploring the new region, players can expect to face off against new types of Corpus enemies, including new variants of well-known Corpus ground troops and massive Spider Bots. Traversing the open world will also be new, as players will get to trade their Archwings for Bondi K-Drive hoverboards.

Finally, a future update still in the works was revealed that will see Warframe players band together to battle in space. Codename: Railjack is a 1-4 player co-op PvE mode where players must work together to pilot a warship from Fortuna to open space. Players take positions to steer the vessel, maintain shields and systems, fire turrets at enemies, and even launch themselves with Archwings into enemy vessels to board them and take them down.

Fortuna is coming later in 2018, while Codename: Railjack has no firm release date yet. The full recap of TennoCon’s reveals, including two new Warframes in the works, gameplay footage of Railjack and Fortuna, and cosplay contest winners can be found here. A trailer for the Fortuna update is below.

Our Thoughts

The hits just keep on coming for Warframe! Not only is seeing another open world area for Warframe an awesome update, we’re also going to be seeing what sounds like an awesome space combat co-op PvE experience and another new MMO for the Nintendo Switch! Exciting times to be a fan of this title, indeed!

Watch TennoLive, Get a Free Ash Prime Warframe

One of the most baffling things I’ve ever encountered in Warframe is working out where to get materials to build a new Warframe. I mean, sure, the starter guys aren’t bad, but they’re no Primes, that’s for sure. So if you’ve had your eye on the Ash Prime Warframe but missed getting him before he went into the Vault, then getting him is really as simple as tuning in to a stream.

ash prime warframe

For those who are maybe unfamiliar, TennoLive is the finale event of TennoCon, the convention that happens on Saturday, July 7th. The TennoLive portion of the event will be happening that Saturday at 3pm PST/6pm EST.

For those who are interested in snagging themselves a free Prime Warframe, all you have to do is link your Warframe account to Twitch at this website and then watch the broadcast on Twitch for at least 30 minutes while signed in to their linked Twitch account.

Fans of Warframe are likely to learn something exciting coming to Warframe during TennoLive, as the TennoCon event was the venue that the popular Plains of Eidolon update was first announced, so why not get yourself a free robo suit in the process?

As for Warframe itself, console players of the action MMO can now get in on The Sacrifice update as of today, which features the new Umbra Warframe, UI adjustments, and new Tenno customizations.

Our Thoughts

Seriously, though, progressing through Warframe is just the most baffling thing. Or maybe I’m just daft. Anyway, the point is that getting a really neat Warframe for sitting around and watching a broadcast for 30 minutes is a pretty sweet deal compared to the hoops one normally would need to jump through to get a new Frame.

Melee is Up for Remastering in Warframe

Although there are plenty of guns to shoot and abilities to wield, there’s something about Warframe melee that can often feel right. Or feel wonky, perhaps. It’s the latter that the devs are focusing on fixing as revealed in their last developer livestream.

warframe melee

First up, blocking will no longer have channeling mechanics or a specific channeled block button, as regular blocking will work like channeled blocking. In doing this, this freed up a new button input to be used for heavy attacks, which are now powered by the combo counter.

On the subject of combos, the dependency of heavy attacks on the combo meter will see light/basic attacks increase in damage along with new ways to build up combos. Stance-related combos are also getting more unification, and the range of melee attacks is getting longer at base but will no longer work through walls. Range melee Mods are also up for a nerfing or more specialization.

The dev update in question wasn’t all about melee, of course. The devs also talked about personal Dojo changes, a new dual-handed katana weapon, and other tidbits. You can take a look at the entire hour-long stream in the embed below.

Our Thoughts

Sounds like there’s a whole lot more on the melee-minded plate than just a few damage number adjustments. All of these changes sound like the already visceral combat of Warframe at melee range will end up being even more fun.
