Vermintide 2 Free Weekend Event This Weekend

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend then you might want to check out the Vermintide 2 free weekend event that has already started. From November 21 to the 24th you’ll be able to play the co-op Warhammer game completely free on Steam. You’ll also be able to play all of the DLCs for free if you’re invited by a player who owns the game and DLC.

“We are excited to bring Steam users the chance to play Vermintide 2” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “This will be a good opportunity to get into the battle and help the heroes fend off the Skaven and Chaos hordes.”

Throughout the weekend if you decide you like the game you’ll be able to buy the game for 75% off. The DLC as well as the collector’s edition are also on sale on Steam. You can get all of this on the official Vermintide 2 Steam page.

If you’re a little bit on the fence about the game check out our review of the base game which came out early last year. The reviewer still loves Vermintide as much as he did when he reviewed it, possibly even a bit more thanks to the expansions. I know this because I’m married to him. So, if you’re a fan of Warhammer or Left 4 Dead and you haven’t given Vermintide 2 a try yet this weekend is your chance. You won’t regret it.

Vermintide 2 – Winds of Magic is Now Live

Vermintide 2 – Winds of Magic is the latest update to the award-winning, multimillion-selling game Warhammer Vermintide 2 and it is out now.

Winds of Magic is the first expansion to Vermintide 2 to bring in a new enemy faction, Beastmen. Along with Beastmen, you’ll find a raised level cap, new weapons for all heroes, leaderboards, a new level, and a new game mode.

“Warning heroes – the Beastmen have arrived, and they bring malice with them. Pick up the new weapons, and help me put a stop to this invasion of ruthless enemies.” says Bardin Goreksson, self-proclaimed leader of the Ubersreik Five group of heroes.

You can find Winds of Magic on Steam right now. But, if you’re on the fence about the expansion check out the badass trailer below.

This is of course not the Versus that was revealed at E3 this year. It is still early days for that and beta signups are still open. Versus is being developed by a separate team within Fat Shark so that it doesn’t slow down the development of the game in any way. When we hear more about that we’ll be sure to run through the streets screaming in glee.

For now, though we get to enjoy Winds of Magic. Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund had this message for fans and beta testers. “Release day is the most exciting day in game development, and here we are today. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – Winds of Magic is available now, ready for heroes to excel. Winds of Magic would not have been possible without the feedback from our beta tests, and we want to thank all beta players who helped us deliver the best version of Winds of Magic.”

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Sales Break 500k

There appears to be a lot of folks who like the idea of rushing to meet waves of angry rat-people and barbarians. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 sales have reached the 500k mark after only a few days from its release – a first for developer Fatshark Games.

vermintide 2 sales

Since the game’s initial launch, Vermintide 2 has raked in 204 million minutes watched on Twitch and marked 50 billion (with a “b”) enemies slain by those 500k players. Along with, according to the press release, “100% proud developers” as another metric to consider.

“We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts.” says Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund in a statement. “500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release.”

While PC players continue to enjoy their time wading through enemy waves, console players won’t have to wait too much longer for their opportunity as the game is due to kick off beta tests for both Xbox One and PS4 sometime this Spring.

Our Thoughts

As our own review found, it’s easy to see why Vermintide 2 is doing so well; it’s an improvement to the already excellent Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide in pretty much every single facet. We’d like to wish the devs at Fatshark Games heartfelt congratulations and hope that players in Vermintide 2 continue to enjoy themselves in-game.

Pre-Order Beta for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Begins

Did you enjoy yourself during the last beta weekend of Warhammer; Vermintide 2 enough to buy in? If you did, then you’re pretty much already playing the Vermintide 2 pre-order beta and aren’t reading this. Or maybe you did pre-order and forgot. Or are thinking of pre-ordering and didn’t know that was a thing. In either case, it’s now on.

vermintide 2 pre-order beta

For those who bought in early, the “beta” essentially marks a soft launch of the full game. According to the Vermintide 2 Steam page, progress made in the pre-order beta should carry over to full launch and beyond, but also does mention that progression might need to be reset if major changes need to be made.

The pre-order build of the game has made several changes, including toning down the difficulty of the Recruit level as a result of player feedback. Other adjustments include tweaks to several character attacks and weapon types, a fix that lets bot characters use talents, and a number of other fixes and stability tweaks.

Naturally, the pre-order beta runs from now until the game’s full release on March 8th. Be sure to click the link above if you want to get the full patch notes and feel free to check out a gameplay trailer below.

Our Thoughts

So, yeah, pretty much a launch product then, barring any major tweaks that would require a wholesale wiping of account advancement. Regardless, we hope those who have pre-ordered the game have a good time diving into the melee madness of Chaos and Skaven slashing.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Extends Beta for 24 Hours

Ain’t no party like a Skaven slicing party and the Skaven slicing party won’t stop for another 24 hours or so. As a result of what’s reported to be a successful Warhammer: Vermintide 2 beta test, the devs at Fatshark Games have elected to extend things by one more day.

vermintide 2 beta test

With a whole bunch of Skaven and Chaos enemies laying dead at the feet of players, the game’s online multiplayer beta will press on for another 24 hours from 9am PST/12pm EST. In addition, another 10,000 beta keys have been made available at this web page, though said keys are on a first come, first served basis.

“It’s been an amazing weekend, with millions and millions of Chaos and Skaven enemies eliminated”, says Fatshark CEO Martin Wahlund. “We are also very appreciative that media and influencers have taken the game to a large audience around the world.”

Our Thoughts

Yay, more rat people slicing! Personally speaking, I had a pretty good time in the Vermintide 2 beta, so getting another 24 hours’ worth of video game melee bloodletting is good news indeed. Have you been among those playing the Vermintide 2 beta? What are your thoughts on this game? Feel free to share your impressions with us below.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Gets a Beta Weekend on Steam

The newest edition of the multiplayer Skaven slaughtering action title Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is prepared to let players face off against more angry rat people…and worse. Dates for the first Warhammer: Vermintide 2 beta have been confirmed, granting players on Steam an opportunity to try their hand at the sequel to one of our favorite games of 2016.

warhammer: vermintide 2 beta

The beta build of Vermintide 2 will grant players access to one of the game’s levels and access to five of the hero careers – one for each playable character. Players will be tested against the returning Skaven, who have a few new tricks up their sleeves, as well as the Chaos Army in four-player, team-based first-person combat.

Players on Steam can secure beta access by pre-ordering the game, or they can get their own code on a special website after doing a couple of minor steps, or by simply signing up for the game’s newsletter.

While the beta in question is for Steam players, those who would rather experience the action on console will soon get their chance as well, as the game is taking sign-ups for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively. In the meantime, PC players have between now, February 22nd until Monday, February 26th at 1am PST/4am EST.

More information about Warhammer: Vermintide 2 can be found here, while a trailer detailing the features of the game’s beta and launch versions can be seen below.

Our Thoughts

We know at least one person who will likely be excited for this news! In all honesty, there’s definitely something to be said for a wave survival title set in the grisly Warhammer fantasy world, so we’re more than ready for Vermintide 2’s arrival. Bring on the hordes!
