Wargaming is inviting you to get airborne again with the launch of World of Warplanes 2.0, a version update that brings an overhaul to core gameplay, a brand new game mode, and the addition of the Bomber class of planes among other changes.
The action in World of Warplanes is ramping up with some mechanics changes; namely, the addition of a respawn system that will let players re-enter the fray sooner. Improvements to flight mechanics, sound, graphics, defined plane classes, and more are also being introduced.
Another big change is the focus on more team-oriented tactics with Conquest mode. Instead of dogfighting in team deathmatch, players can now battle for control over several key sectors of a map. Taking out ground targets will secure control, and control of certain areas will yield bonuses such as friendly military bases launching strikes against enemy buildings.
Taking out ground targets, of course, leads to the new class of aircraft: the Bomber. Players can now take to the skies in these new behemoths, which operate at high altitude and rain hell on ground targets. Players can use a new Bombsight view to better deliver their payload, and manual turret control lets them defend themselves more precisely against enemy attack.

The Conquest mode is definitely the most interesting aspect of this update. Making battles more tactical and team-oriented could most definitely change the way people approach this game from here on out. Of course, it also brings its own new can of worms with trying to coordinate complete strangers into an effective team. We’re looking forward to seeing if World of Warplanes players are up to the challenge.
