Look, I’m going to level with anyone reading this. I’m not a PvP player and I’m even less of a PvP player in Guild Wars 2. That said, even I can appreciate that planned Guild Wars 2 PvP skills adjustments that affect PvP and WvW are a pretty important deal to those who are PvP players in Guild Wars 2, so I’ll try to summarize things as best as my meager understanding will allow.
According to a forum post made by communications manager Gaile Gray, the intentions of the proposed changes are to reduce the influence of passive traits in PvP, increase build diversity, and reduce the effectiveness of offensive instant skills and traits.
The post goes on to provide a line-by-line list of tweaks being considered by the team, with what appears to be particular focus on Warriors, Engineers and Rangers. That said, the skills and traits of every class is due for adjustment in some manner.
In spite of the laundry list of adjustments, the post notes that the changes aren’t exactly set in stone. “We’d like to get your thoughts and ideas on both our high level goals and how we’re going about accomplishing them,” writes Gray. “While reviewing these changes, please consider them as a whole rather than focusing on individual classes.”
You can join the (ideally) productive discussion here if you happen to be among the aforementioned GW2 PvP’ers.
Like I said, I have no horse in this race, so we leave the floor on this matter to you. Do you like the proposed adjustments being considered by the team? Are there some changes that strike you as a bit heavy-handed? Feel free to provide your thoughts below…after you’ve done so in the appropriate forum thread, of course. I mean, they’ll want that input.
